It’s so cute! I have a plain silicone cleansing brush from Memebox, but this one looks more fun. Adding this to my cart. I shall call it Luigi. Yes. Luigi the Jellyfish.
I played the clip numerous times! He’s adorable and his expressions, priceless. We all know that feeling… I’m fairly new to k-beauty but almost out of my Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, which would feel tragic, so I’ve already reordered. I’m happy that I found this site!
Did you ever see Shut Up! Flower Boy Band? I watched it because of a Dramabeans best dramas of all time list. Yes, he’s great (though not as prominent as more recent dramas), but I LOVED the flower boys in it — great characters, great story.
Is anyone trying anything new and fun lately? I\’ve been working on a jar of Hanyul Pure Artemisia Calming Cream that I am loving! It\’s like junior hanbang or summer hanbang–has the herbal cred but is light and refreshing instead of heavy.
Hanyul is one of the popular brand! Currently I am using Aloe soothing cream/gel for calming down my skin (from Nature Republic) , but almost gone. Will check it out!
This is my second bottle of it. Never had any skin troubles with this, even though my skin is sensitive and is allergic to many things around. smells fresh and abundant amount at reasonable prices. Cool and refreshing with mild sticky feeling at first on putting, but soon sticky feeling gone and skin gets smoother after.
I’m testing toners since it appears my HG Enprani Moistfull Booskin has been discontinued (*cries softly*). I’m enjoying the Primary Raw Doyou Soy Ferment Essence Toner as well as Sooryehan’s Bon Extra Moisture Toner. I completely forgot I have the Hanyul Rice Essential Skin Softner (ugh, spelling) in my stash. I admit I am addicted to toners…and I am not ashamed.
Randomly stumbled upon a VDL Skin P+R=O Overnight Relaxing Cream in my sample stash last night. Genuinely thought they only did makeup so was intrigued enough to try it and was blown away this morning. Had a stress breakout over the weekend and all the whiteheads were reduced to 1/4 of the size (I comboed this with Lotion P50 and CosRX Snail Essence) and when I washed my face in the shower it felt like satin.
Oh and this is after applying at 3am and getting all of 4hrs of sleep 😳
Gonna try again tonight without the P50 and Snail Essence to see if the cream was THAT good.
Happy Friday, everybody! Let’s talk sheet mask hacks! A few of mine are:
-We all know about refrigerating sheet masks for an extra refreshing kick in the summer. But sometimes a cold sheet mask is too much, right? Sometimes I sit on mine or put them behind my back (so they’re pressed between my back and the sofa) for about 10 minutes before using, and then they’re perfect warm body temperature and not at all shocking to apply.
-Snow White and the Asian Pear had a trick that she blogged about a couple years ago that I love for ill-fitting sheet masks. Cut them in half from left to right, so they’re two pieces like most hydrogels. Instantly improves the fit a ton!
-Dab a couple…[Read more]
I sit on my masks too! I actually hate the ultra chilled feeling, so I never pop mine in the fridge. (I also hate super cold drinks with a lot of ice, haha.)
I’ve been doing masks as my last step before moisturizer to make sure all of the other stuff beforehand sinks in as well as it can.
I also hate getting up after a sheet mask to go stand up more and do the rest of my routine! Sheet mask = end of the night relaxing for me, so the less I do after, the better!
Here’s something I didn’t find out for an embarrassingly long time: most hydrogel masks have a front and back side. Usually the side to go against your face has more gel on it that you can kind of scrape with a fingernail. They really don’t work as well if you put them on backwards. 🙈
You know, I wondered about that too. Because unlike cotton masks, most hydrogels have different textures on each side (one side is more textured, the other smooth) and I always wondered if one is supposed to go on your face. Any ideas?
When I get lazy or have time before my evening routine after a sheet mask, I press a facial oil on after a sheet mask to seal all that goodness in. My face just GLOWS.
Another tip I learned recently: Store your sheet masks flat, not vertical, to keep the mask evenly saturated in essence.
Also, exfoliate before a sheet mask to help clear the path for full absorption.
The tip about storing them flat was kind of a revelation for me! I have a lot of mine upright in the fridge due to space issues, but I’ve started making sure the one I plan to use is flat for at least an hour before I use it.
I have done all of them! Lol but I noticed that I don’t really like warm face mask. I have the ones that are close to expiration in the fridge and the rest and are basically out at room temp. So most of the time I’ll just pop the ones at room temp right in before using because I just like that cold feeling to my face (even on the winter). Also when I started using facial oils, I didn’t know whether to use it before or after sheet masking so I tired them both and liked it better before because all the oil will sink into my face with out having that oily feeling on my face of doing it after.
This is a great idea especially for under the eye masks. Not just masks are great in the fridge, other products like some essences are great to put into the fridge to help with the longevity of the product and formulation. I mainly do this during the summer because I am always worried about certain products that have to maintain at a certain temperature range.
Question for those of you with long evening routines and shorter morning ones–if you have to choose only one serum/ampoule step for your morning, which do you choose? I\’m generally a toner/essence/moisturizer/sunscreen in the morning person lately, but today I managed to fit in a layer of the Swanicoco Revol Ampoule Whitening in after my essence. I\’m testing it for W2Beauty right now and really enjoying the consistency and fast absorption (which is kind of my main criteria for morning product).
I love the Su:m37 Time energy Skin Resetting Repairing Serum or the Secret Repair Concentrate serum. However i seem to be the opposite at the moment, with a longer morning routine and shorter evening during these warmer months. I’ve noticed all the hydration and protection i give my skin in the day means i need less treatments at night xo
I’m currently using the Time Energy Serum and was so disappointed. Tried it both day and night and didn’t see any noticeable differences, it was one of the meh-est products I used since I jumped down the kbeauty rabbit hole. My skin also hates the Rose Stick Cleanser, so I’m thinking Su:m37 just isn’t my cup of tea.
I have been going with Benton snail essence and skipping the moisturizer step all together. Granted I have oily/combo skin and I’m also dealing with NYC humidity, so that’s probably the only reason I can skip moisturizer and go straight from essence to sunscreen.
Depending on the humidity (and my patience level), I grab either the Honey Shark from Holy Snails or the Pore Care Ampoule from Sooryehan. The Sooryehan serum works especially well as a makeup primer.
I skip them altogether because the weather will literally melt everything, it’s so hot. Love the Missha Near Skin Smart All in One Cream for mornings as it covers multiple steps and it’s super light. But if I’m having a hormonal breakout I’ll use some Benton Snail Bee Essence before applying the Missha to calm my skin a bit.
I usually go with Stratia Rewind – it has impressively reduced my redness.
Can I bug you for advice? What would you recommend to really boost hydration during the day? I do Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum (you totally sold me on that one!), three to five layers of toners (usually 2-3 different ones), Stratia Rewind, and finally emulsion, but I still feel like it’s not enough and my cheeks feel dry mid-day. I don’t have time to put sheet mask on in the morning, and I wonder if you have any serums/essences that really boost hydration…
Hmmm I think if those steps aren’t doing it for you, your skin may be severely dehydrated or your moisture barrier compromised somehow. What’s the rest of your routine (night and day)?
For hydrating serums, I have found that Amorepacific Moisture Bound serum is excellent for hydrating for actually retaining hydration (and the gel creme in the same line is too), but those are quite costly. At a more budget-friendly level, I really liked Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Essence and the Deep Essence is said to be great too.
You’re absolutely right about the problem! The only active I’ve been using is tretinoin 0.04% and I use it 5-6 times a week. I started 6 months ago and worked my way up to that frequency. I would put it on half an hour after cleansing on essentially bare skin (well, one layer of toner and essence right after cleansing cause otherwise it would be unbearable).
Since posting my last comment, I’ve switched things up. I do a full routine now with FTE, toner, essence and emulsion first, then wait 30-6o min and then apply the tretinoin. That has helped tremendously! I still get the benefits of the retinoid but the dehydration and peeling have diminished.
Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum and I use Stratia Rewind with 5% niacinamide as my morning serum. It has helped with the redness and PIE, but has not done anything for my hyperpigmentation spots.
Oh yeah, my favorite K-beauty products!
Budget: Gotta be Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. I just left a short review on the product page here, and there’s a longer review of it on my blog from a couple years ago, but the TL;DR is that it smoothes and soothes and softens my skin like crazy, as well as makes it resilient enough to heal quickly from any…uh…*problems* that come up. The texture is wonderfully snaily and I’ve been through 4-5 bottles because I cannot get enough. I put it all the way down to my cleavage!
Luxury: Sulwhasoo Capsulized Ginseng Fortifying Serum. It’s really pricey, but this serum absolutely ruined me for most other ginseng products. It…[Read more]
The snail essence is my all time favorite thing. I use it and when I go to put it back in the drawer I find I always say, oh how I love you. Nutty, huh? Truly love this product. It is amazing.
I like stick-type sunscreens (in a pinch, even an SPF-containing lip balm will work) for eyelids, since those don’t run. But generally I have to admit I just rely on sunglasses :/
Misapplication of sunscreen leaves people vulnerable to skin cancer – News – University of Liverpool
I\’ve been super sick the last couple of days, and the worst part is that I had an appointment to get my lash extensions touched up, but I doubt they\’re going to last, since you can\’t get the glue wet for 24 hours, but my eyes are watering uncontrollably every time I cough. RAGE.
