〰 CERAMIDES 〰
What are they?
Lipid molecules that are found in high concentrations within cell membranes constituent of skin’s outer layers, they hold skin cells together forming a protective layer in structuring and maintaining the water permeability barrier function of the skin (retains moisture), protecting the skin from outside damages.
What do they do?
Naturally our skin produces ceramides, but as we get older the amount of ceramides in our skin reduces, in skincare products, they are used to replenish the natural lipids that are lost from exposure to harsh environmental factors, use of drying products, and during the aging process. They restore moisture, fortify the skin’s natural barrier and help protect it against harm from foreign elements. They are effective in treating eczema & hyperpigmentation.
Does anyone know about a good ceramide product besides Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin?
I know it’s a good product but it’s a bit expensive for me 😅
