About the product

What Is It:

Red, angry and flaring pimples will be distant memories with the addition of this Swanicoco tea tree essence in your skincare routine! Thanks to its first antibacterial and antibiotic ingredient, Tea Tree Leaf Water, the Swanicoco A.C Control Tea Tree Essence (30ml) calms down red blemishes, controls excess oil, and keeps acne at bay. Centella asiatica extract and allantoin soothe skin, while sodium hyaluronate keeps skin plump and moisturized. Its effective yet gentle formula makes this essence suitable for all skin types, including normal, dry, combination, and oily, acne-prone skin!

Our insight:

Our editor in chief Anna swears by this essence, which she says is a must-have product in her acne-fighting skincare regimen! She loves the essence (applied in her serum step) for its lightweight, non-sticky formula that absorbs into skin quickly to address and calm down blemishes and pimples without ever drying out her skin. She recommends this essence (which she considers a dupe for the LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence) to be used in conjunction with other acne-fighting ingredients, such as a BHA. How to use:

After cleansing and applying toner and/or essence, drop a moderate amount onto a cotton pad or directly into palms and apply all over the face. Alternately, apply as a spot treatment only on blemishes and pimples. Pat to absorb, and follow with the remainder of your routine.

Brand info:

Beauty brands that claim to be nature-based are a dime a dozen in South Korea, but Swanicoco takes that claim seriously. With the commitment to ensuring that each Swanicoco product consists of 90% to 100% natural ingredients, Swanicoco has risen to the top of Rankey.com’s list of natural cosmetics in Korea. And it’s no wonder. Beloved for their standout products like the Bitamin C line, the Centella Asiatica Salve (an editor favorite), and PHA 10% Coco Soft Peeling Cream, Swanicoco is on a mission to disprove the notion that natural ingredients are less effective. Swanicoco harnesses Korea’s high-tech biotechnology to provide products with not just time-honored botanical ingredients but those that are science-based, ranging from epidermal growth factors to snail mucin to fermented ingredients. Originally founded in 2000 by Seong Chunseon as a way to treat her family’s sensitive skin, Swanicoco soon expanded to a business after Seong started getting rave reviews of her naturally fermented soaps from her neighbors. Today, Swanicoco boasts a collection of over 150 products, ranging from skincare and color cosmetics to hair and body care and, of course, Seong’s fermented soaps (now offered in nine varieties). There are 28 Swanicoco retail locations throughout Korea as well as a robust online presence. A favorite of insiders in the beauty community, Swanicoco continues to operate in the spirit of its founder, making each product as if it were for their own family.

I was a bit worried to use this on my (sometimes) dry skin, but it turns out to be extremely refreshing and non-drying, in addition to cooling my redness prone skin and staving off acne and bumps. Usually it's a trade off but not with this toner!

My waxer even recommended using this to soothe skin and prevent bumps after a bikini wax - just be sure to keep it away from the sensitive areas! It was a great alternative to harsher treatments that do minimize ingrown hairs, but at the cost of irritation and dryness. I've used it after... Read more
