About the product

What Is It:

At last, a cream that doesn’t just give your skin temporary hydration — Swanicoco Extra Hydrating Swan Cream is in it for the long run! This super nourishing face cream is carefully formulated with skin rejuventating fermented and natural ingredients (many of which have been approved by USDA Organic and ECO certified). These ingredients include Saccharomyces ferment filtrate, pearl powder, aloe vera, hyacinth (plant) extract, and a whole slew of fermented ingredients. All these ingredients work together to restore skin’s vitality and elasticity, all without the use of harmful chemicals.
※ Real Tip from Swanicoco※ Q : While I was using the product, the cream turned yellow. Is it normal? A : Yes. This product contains ‘unrefined’ Argan Oil for hydration, which could turn into yellow as it’s exposed to the air. It doesn’t affect any quality of the cream, and it is safe to use.

Our insight:

“Honestly I wish I were wealthy enough to have this as an all-over body lotion because, man, does it hydrate and lock in the moisture with a bit of a barrier without leaving a heavy film behind.” — contributing editor Coco Park
“Milky, gel-like, and creamy, this moisturizer is chock full of skin-quenching ingredients. First on the list? Saccharomyces ferment filtrate, a natural humectant that belongs to the #fungifam and boasts the ability to brighten, even skin tone, and promote cell turnover. Marry that with macadamia seed oil, shea butter, allantoin, and a number of other natural skin-boosters, and you’ve got a cocktail for nourishing hydration in one spatula-full of facial cream.” — associate editor Ruth Kim

Brand info:

Beauty brands that claim to be nature-based are a dime a dozen in South Korea, but Swanicoco takes that claim seriously. With the commitment to ensuring that each Swanicoco product consists of 90% to 100% natural ingredients, Swanicoco has risen to the top of Rankey.com’s list of natural cosmetics in Korea. And it’s no wonder. Beloved for their standout products like the Bitamin C line, the Centella Asiatica Salve (an editor favorite), and PHA 10% Coco Soft Peeling Cream, Swanicoco is on a mission to disprove the notion that natural ingredients are less effective. Swanicoco harnesses Korea’s high-tech biotechnology to provide products with not just time-honored botanical ingredients but those that are science-based, ranging from epidermal growth factors to snail mucin to fermented ingredients. Originally founded in 2000 by Seong Chunseon as a way to treat her family’s sensitive skin, Swanicoco soon expanded to a business after Seong started getting rave reviews of her naturally fermented soaps from her neighbors. Today, Swanicoco boasts a collection of over 150 products, ranging from skincare and color cosmetics to hair and body care and, of course, Seong’s fermented soaps (now offered in nine varieties). There are 28 Swanicoco retail locations throughout Korea as well as a robust online presence. A favorite of insiders in the beauty community, Swanicoco continues to operate in the spirit of its founder, making each product as if it were for their own family.

I think the package is so beautiful and modern, I could stare at it all day. It's SUPER hydrating, the next morning, my skin feels like it hasn't lost any moisture. It does not sink into my skin and leaves my skin sticky as I'm going to sleep (one of my biggest pet peeves). Maybe I need to try putting less product on my skin. Also once the product settled, I realized that the jar is only 2/3-3/4s full at most. It's a lot of money to pay for a small jar that isn't even... Read more

I wish I had the answer for you! I have the same issue. The closest I've come to a solution is Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. After I'm done with my night routine I spread a decent layer of the mask on and pat away. I've found that letting it sit for a while after patting helps it dry some. Then on warm nights I gently pat any stickiness left off with a paper towel. It's not ideal, but better than having my pillow case enjoy the benefits of k-beauty. 😉 Laneige makes a... Read more

I loveeeee the SanDaWha cream you ordered! It feels like whipped butter and it just melts into skin. Definitely more lightweight than the Swanicoco Extra Hydrating.

I would also recommend trying the Earth's Recipe Moisture Bound Cream! I would actually consider this more of a daytime moisturizer in that it's not super rich, so I think its lightweight aspect could be something that you're looking for, in terms of a moisturizer drying down semi-matte. I find that the Earth's Recipe cream absorbs really quickly into skin.

The packaging of this is very small so it's easy to travel with. It comes with a small white spatula, which I find very convenient.
The cream is quite thick yet it's not difficult to spread, it also doesn't feel heavy. It doesn't really have a smell. After I use it my skin feels very smooth.
I usually use this after my emulsion and oil, kind of as a barrier.
