About the product

What Is It:

Who says your mist can’t be as elegant as your serum? Sulwhasoo brings the oft forgotten mist into prominence with this extraordinary formulation. The First Care Activating Serum Mist is an oil-water serum mist featuring five precious ingredients that make up Sulwhasoo’s JAUM Balancing Complex™, a complex that helps restore the balance and radiance of skin. This balance is achieved by improving the skin’s overall appearance, vitality, firmness, clarity, nourishment and skin turnover. The Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum Mist provides an incredibly concentrated moisture that is instantly absorbed into the skin. The mist soothes the senses with its aromatic herbal fragrance, and its refreshing effect can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere, while providing your skin with all the benefits of Sulwhasoo’s sophisticated formula.
What exactly is the JAUM Balancing Complex™? It’s Sulwhasoo’s unique formula that replenishes the yin energy to restore balance lost with age. Approximately 3,000 traditional Korean medicinal herbs, such as the “Boncho gangmok” and “Sinnongbonchogyeong” are used for cosmetic purposes as identified in ancient Korean texts—and after thousands of tests, 163 were selected for their efficacy. Among these 163 medicinal herbs, Sulwhasoo narrowed the selection down to 30 of the most powerful for further research. By testing the efficacies of each medicinal herb, Sulwhasoo finally discovered the five optimum ingredients, namely: Peony, Sacred Lotus, Solomon’s Seal, White Lily, and Rehmannia. But this luxury Korean brand did not stop there. They applied the traditional method of brewing while testing the formula every 10 minutes, in order to allow the five ingredients to create a synergy through ‘Harmony and Balance’.
After numerous tests, Sulwhasoo discovered that the ingredients did not reach their peak potency when brewed less than 18 hours, and became ineffective when brewed longer. Thus, they concluded that 18 hours was the optimal brewing time, giving birth to the JAUM Balancing Complex™, which leaves the skin smooth and moisturized, and replenishes its energy deficiency in order to restore the skin’s balance.
What does all this mean? Sulwhasoo has bridged the gap between ancient wisdom and modern technique to bring you one of the most elegant and powerful mists available on the market today. Indulge your skin in thousands of years of knowledge, cutting edge extraction and brewing techniques, and see the wondrous results for yourself today.

Brand info:

This prestige beauty brand, focused on hanbang ingredients indigenous to Korea, is as highly respected in its native land as it is abroad. Proof? Locals say its Ginseng Cream is something you’d gift to a potential mother-in-law. In its earliest iteration, that ginseng cream was what launched Sulwhasoo over 50 years ago. While helping his mother’s camellia oil business, Sulwhasoo founder Suh Sung-whan came to appreciate the power of traditional Korean herbs. Working with Kyunghee University of Oriental Medicine to blend traditional Korean medicinal herbs and methods with science-backed research, Suh founded the company that would become Sulwhasoo in 1966. All of Sulwhasoo’s ingredients are meticulously cultivated in AmorePacific’s herb farm, from the saponin-rich ginseng to white lily to East Indian lotus. Its signature formula of jaumdan, which consists of five potent herbs, targets the body’s Yin energy to fight dryness, dark spots, and inflammation. In 2004, Sulwhasoo became a best seller in Hong Kong, and in 2010, the prestige skincare line made its North American debut at Bergdorf Goodman.

This product is amazing. The ultra fine mist hydrates my skin beautifully without running my makeup down my face. The herbal smell is like being in a day spa. Great for a freshen up at any time of the day.

I don't know that I can do this product justice by reviewing it, but I'll try. If you're looking for a light way to include oil in your daily routine, this is it. If you want the finest atomizer ever known to mankind on a mist bottle, this is it. If you're hopelessly addicted to beautiful skin, then this is a must have. I've been using this for a few weeks now, and it adds a level of moisture to my skin that is utterly surprising. I've used it on days when I was completely lazy and didn't want to... Read more

Thanks for the review! You have convinced me to pick it up!! :)

I hope you love it, mochiandblush! I have to restrain myself from spraying it excessively because it smells so lovely. It\'s amazing in between layers of serum, too.

Thanks Tracy! Sulwhasoo makes the best smelling items!! I heart them so much! :)

OMG I've been adding and removing it from my cart for the past few days HAHA because I tried it at the counter and it was SO good, just like how you described it! Maybe I'll wait for the next time it goes on sale :/

One question, is the 110ml one unwieldy? I can't decide between getting a 50ml to try first or going straight for the 110ml.

Ba ha ha! I do that, too. In the cart. Out of the cart. :)

Buy the 110ml. It's not any bigger than most Sulwhasoo (or other toner) bottles, and once you buy it, you'll want as much of it as you can humanly handle. This one puts all other mists to shame.
