The Review: COSRX Hydrium Green Tea Aqua Soothing Gel Cream

COSRX does it again, this time with a gel cream that is everything its name says it is — and more.

Ladies and gents, if you have oily skin, you’re going to want to lean in close and take in every word I say because I have found the pinnacle of gel cream moisturizer, and we undoubtedly have to stan.

So COSRX has done it YET again. At this point, we have to recognize the cult brand as one of the most legendary K-beauty brands of all time. The new COSRX Hydrium Green Tea Aqua Soothing Gel Cream is one of the best gel creams I’ve tried in a long time, or maybe ever, to be honest. Why? Let’s talk about it.

The Green Tea Aqua Gel Cream is the latest offering from COSRX, a part of their Hydrium line for summer. This cream is designed to offer soothing, lightweight hydration and moisture and combat redness and irritation, all with a refreshing, cooling effect. It’s perfect for summer and for those who live in hot and humid climates as it helps calm sunburn and skin irritation from being out in the sun too long.

My main gripe with a lot of other gel creams is that while they feel really lightweight on the skin, they don’t do the best job of actually moisturizing your skin. Sure, they hydrate, but then eventually, my skin starts overproducing oil since I’m not really moisturizing my skin. Quite a conundrum to face in the summer when my skin already is a resident of Oil City. However, the COSRX Green Tea Aqua Soothing Gel Cream actually feels and acts like a cream, but with a gel consistency. The first time I used it, I was Dr. Shook. It legit felt like I had applied an actual cream moisturizer to my skin.

Notable ingredients in the COSRX gel cream include green tea (obvs), which acts as an anti-inflammatory ingredient to help soothe tired and heated skin, camellia leaf extract to calm and hydrate, aloe leaf extract to treat redness and irritation, and vitamin B5, an anti-inflammatory ingredient for intense hydration.

Not only does this cream feature an amazing selection of super good-for-your-skin ingredients, it actually FEELS nice. It really does cool your skin and provides a nice, shine-free, non-sticky finish. I love to use it in the AM before my sunscreen, or it also works as an excellent after-the-gym moisturizer when you need to rush back to work.

Those sensitive to fragrance will be happy to know that this gel cream is fragrance-free. And not like that weird fragrance-free smell — it is really and truly fragrance-free. It also contains zero parabens and is also cruelty-free. We have to stan a conscious skincare brand!

If you have oily skin, trust and believe me that this is definitely a moisturizer that you’re gonna want to try. If you want to really up the hydration ante, pair it with the COSRX Triple Hyaluronic Acid Moisture Ampoule (another BANGER!).
