More Korean Male Stars Who Embrace Their Love of Beauty
Need more proof that Korea is the men’s skincare capital of the world? Check out these Korean male stars, from A-list actors to boy band rockers, who know their way around a good double cleanse.
We’ve already shown you a handful of Korean actors who have better skin than most women and K-pop boy bands who not only love their skincare products but offer great skincare tips. But when we say Korean men have fully embraced this lifestyle, we mean it. In fact, it wasn’t difficult to fill up another list of Korean male stars who have embraced beauty — and even more who have taken on cosmetics endorsements to prove it.
After just two episodes of the hit K-drama Goblin, advertisers were lining up for Gong Yoo, with headlines crowning him the new CF king. (He’s currently the face of nine different brands.) Of course, Gong has been the model for British company The Body Shop since 2015, with his latest CF promoting the brand’s British Rose line. If his previous work on the popular drama Coffee Prince (2007) and record-breaking action thriller Train to Busan (2016) is any indication of his success, his popularity will only grow.
Jang Geun Suk
Whether it’s electronics, clothes, or beverages, Jang Geun Suk has endorsed it all. Best known for the dramas You’re Beautiful (2009), Pretty Man (2013), and Jackpot (2016), Jang has proven that he has a smile (and the complexion) to remember. From 2006 to 2008, he was the official model for Etude House, starring in a number of CFs alongside fellow Etude House models Go Ara and Park Shin Hye. More recently, he became the spokesperson for Nature Republic in Japan, showing off his love for his personal favorite, the Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel.
It looks like Jang Geun Suk wasn’t the only You’re Beautiful cast member noticed for his killer looks (obviously). CNBlue vocalist Jung Yonghwa has previously admitted that while he’s all for skincare, he’s the type to only use what’s in front of him. Luckily, he caught the attention of Japanese beauty brand Shu Uemura and has been showing off his bright, dewy complexion ever since.
In 2015 — much to the excitement of, well, everyone — the beloved boy group 2PM became official advertising models for Tony Moly. Launched in Korea in 2006, this popular brand now has over 800 stores in 15 countries. In an interview, Jun. K stated that he uses the multitasking Dynamic Fluid as his toner, essence, and lotion to keep his complexion looking young and fresh.
While most fans still can’t seem to get over the split of the once five-member boy band, TVXQ, all agree that it’s a joy to see them active. This is probably why fans melted when the now-duo received an endorsement deal with Missha. And to prove that Missha knew exactly what they were doing when they took on the heartthrobs as models, they created limited edition TVXQ lip balm sets (talk about a fangirl’s dream) and released a CF on essence for men that consisted purely of the duo giving sultry looks to the camera.
All this talk of TVXQ making you miss Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu? Not to worry. Now called JYJ, the trio has been quite busy in the CF world as well. Just check them out in this Tony Moly CF for CC cream, and you’ll understand why they’re the perfect choice for beauty and skincare products. The ageless Jaejoong revealed in an interview that upon noticing a wrinkle when he smiled, he took immediate action and now double cleanses and uses skin lotion, toner, essence, and eye cream. Clearly, it’s working.
