Yes, it’s super cutesy, but there’s so much more to Korean beauty brand Peripera than its looks. If you’ve ever wished your lip/eye/base would stay on and not budge, then you’re in luck. Here, our top Peripera picks, just in time for summer.
If Clio is the MAC of Korea, I'mma go ahead and say Peripera is a less grungy Urban Decay. Peripera is a Millennial dream, full of playful, bold, fun products. The best part is it comes with all of the quality that you would associate with a more “mature” brand. Like imagine if Forever21 carried clothes with the same fun style and price points but with the quality you'd find at Alexander Wang. Can you see it? That's Peripera.
Fun isn't solely for Millennials, so don't let that marketing scare you off from the brand. It's full of really excellent and unique products. (And check out Peripera's spokesmodel Kim So Hyun of Radio Romance fame in this cute outtake.)
Like its big sister brand Clio, Peripera shows that having killer lip products runs in its DNA. The Peripera Ink line is one of my favorites and certainly doesn't get lazy with the innovation. It comes in a couple of different finishes and formulas. There's the Airy Velvet Ink (my current obsession and a 3-time K-Beauty Award winner), Peris Ink Moist (the hardest working lipgloss you'll ever own), and the original Peri Ink Tint (which lives in the comfiest zone between a tint and a liquid lipstick). This Ink line is so tenacious and long-wearing, it has its own dedicated remover in Peri's Ink Remover. You may think that's an unnecessary purchase, but just wait till you get these babies on and realize it ain't leaving till you evict it. I really wish this stuff would have been around in my wild club days, because it could have saved me a lot of embarrassment walking around with the wild smeared lipstick.
There's even the Peripera Ink Stick Matte Type, which I can't really describe to you without showing you so here:
It's a matte lipstick in an ink bottle. And yes, it's gorgeous, vibrant, matte, and leaves a lovely stain.
Outside of the ink line there's also the very popular Tint Water, which is super great for those who love a traditional K-beauty popsicle stained lip. A word to the wise: I'd have that Peri's Ink Remover on hand for this product, too.
Jumping back into the Ink line for a moment I would also like to shout-out their Ink Cara, which is fun colored mascara, and the Ink Fitting Shadows, which are a line of shadow singles in a wide array of colors. Full disclosure: I haven't tried the Ink Fitting Shadows yet, but I've begged my editor to send me some so I can have a serious playdate with them soon, and I have high hopes. Oh, and don't think the Ink line forgot about your skin ’cause it also has Peripera Ink Corrector (a color correcting liquid) as well as Peripera Ink Concealer.
I think there's no better and no cuter way to explore the Ink line than with Peripera Fashion People's Carrier. The most adorable limited edition miniature “suitcase” containing mini versions of the following: Ink The Velvet No2 – So Grapefruit, Ink the Airy Velvet No5 – Elf Light Rose, Vivid Tint Water No3 – Peach Squeeze, Ink Concealer No1 – Vanilla, Multi Shadowing for contouring.
It also comes with cute stickers to decorate and personalize your lip tint luggage case! I need one! I think this would make an excellent gift for someone or for yourself.
Another adorable gift set is the Peripera Fashion People’s Box Ink Lip Pencil. Did I mention there are also Ink Lip pencils? ’Cause there totally are, and they're totally awesome.
These are a close cousin to a now discontinued Peripera crayon we used on the cover of our book, Korean Beauty Secrets (specifically shade Yellow Orange), and I'm so glad they're around because I love the finish of these and the ease of use. The Fashion People's Box contains a lot of product for the price you're paying. It's an excellent value at $20.49 for 8 different colors in a carrying case. Although the pencils aren't huge, you do get a lot of product, and I highly doubt you'll be able to run through them all.
As for eyes, I gushed over Peripera's Wholly Deep Jewel Pots way back in 2015; flash-forward to today and I'm still in love with them. They're such a unique and innovative eye shadow (is it a shadow? IDK, I can't really categorize it!). Imagine if glitter wasn't made by Satan and could actually be applied to your eyes without falling all over your face, body, the Earth, Middle Earth, etc. Then imagine it had a baby with crushed up jewels and decided to become a super glam, super wearable, super beautiful eye product. As if it needed another selling point, it also has the added benefit of being a long-wearing Peripera product, so this stuff doesn't budge until you're ready. It's pretty much sweat- and waterproof. This stuff is perfect for clubbing, weddings, proms, dance recitals, and special occasions where you need long-lasting glamour. There is also the option of Peripera Holi Deep Velvet pots, which are in the same family but offer a beautiful velvet finish. They're both so easy to use and great for everyone.
So if you're looking for a makeup brand to add some fun in your life, Peripera is where it's at!
Have you ever tried Peripera? What’s your top Peripera product from the brand (and yes, besides the Airy Ink Velvet that apparently the whole world is obsessed with)?
