If You’re Dry, Dehydrated, or Stressed (& Who Isn’t?), Huxley Can Turn Your Skin Around

Whether you’re dry, dehydrated, or both (and yes, oily skin CAN be dehydrated), you need to boost that hydration to get your skin back to healthy. Huxley, which draws from the power of ingredients that survive in the Sahara, can get every skin type there. Here’s how.

What do you think of when you think of the desert? For me, I think arid, hot, dusty. But K-beauty brand Huxley saw something different. They saw skincare.

Huxley, named after Brave New World writer Aldous Huxley, is committed to using only the best, rigorously tested, most effective ingredients in its skincare. According to the brand, “all great things were born from brave attempts,” which is what inspired the brand to focus on an ingredient only found in the harshest desert in the world: the Sahara. There resides the prickly pear plant, a plant that is able to withstand and thrive in one of the world’s harshest conditions. Huxley decided to create an entire skincare line using prickly pear seed oil — something that isn’t easy at all, considering it takes nearly one million seeds to make only one liter of oil. And don’t think you’re getting some kind of concentrate. Nope, you’re getting the real deal (in hefty amounts, I might add) in each and every bottle. Yeah, Huxley is that girl.

So what does prickly pear seed oil do? Well, women living in the desert for generations have been using this oil to help hydrate their dry skin and protect it from harsh desert conditions. I mean, if someone living in the desert is all about this oil, then I AM DOWN. Studies have also shown that the oil from the prickly pear seed is high in vitamin E, which is a wonderful antioxidant. Prickly pear has also been used to treat and help heal wounds, as well as giving you that ultra-coveted chok chok glow.

Huxley is not only about using the most effective ingredients, they are also all about simplicity. Each of the products in the brand lineup are split into three routines that contain three products each. And don’t worry, Huxley’s packaging is totally #Instaworthy — clear, minimalist, glass, and totally Hyggee. But the brand didn’t stop there: They also developed their own personal fragrance, with notes of “lush gardens, white musk, and white roses and lilies.” What a mood!

The Hydration line for dehydrated skin

The hydration line is designed for people with dehydrated, unbalanced skin. It also helps calm skin irritated by city living and pollution (aka, me). It consists of the Huxley Extract-It Toner, the Grab Water Essence, and the Fresh Cream.

The toner is slightly acidic and used to help balance and restore the skin’s natural pH. It contains more than 90% natural ingredients, including that oh-so-special cactus oil.

The Grab Water Essence is one of the brand’s superstar products. It’s a super lightweight gel-essence made to help hydrate the skin. It also has a hint of peppermint for a slight cooling effect, perfect for the summer!

The Fresh Cream is my jam. It looks thick, but it’s a lightweight gel cream that locks in moisture and keeps skin protected all day. If you’re an oily-skinned gal and need that bit of extra protection during the upcoming winter months, this is your girl.

The Antioxidant line for stressed skin

The antioxidant line is designed to protect your skin from all the elements — pollution, weather, wind, sun, dust, you name it. The toner is a mainstay in all three lines, but the antioxidant line features the Oil Essence (SUCH A MOOD), and the Anti-Gravity Cream.

The Oil Essence is exactly what it sounds like — a mashup of oil and essence together for one mega dose of hydration and protection. It’s perfect for people who want a lightweight moisturizer before putting on their makeup or my oily-skinned friends who want to balance and moisturize their skin without an overly greasy, heavy feel.

The Anti-Gravity Cream is basically an anti-wrinkle cream on steroids. Made with (of course) prickly pear oil, it helps nourish the skin while protecting it from outside stressors. (Side note: Prickly pear seed oil also helps stimulate collagen production, so say hellooooo to bouncy skin!)

The High Moisture line for dry skin

Dry skin is no match for the High Moisture line. If you’re a fan of using oils (HEY GIRL), you’ll be happy to know Huxley makes one called Oil Light and More. Yeah, we aren’t sure what that means, but don’t let that deter you from slathering this oil on your face. If you have dry skin, the brand recommends you put a few drops of this oil into EVERY. SINGLE. STEP. of your routine, which sounds like the most luxurious sh—t I’ve ever heard. If you have oily or combination skin, use it during the last step to help seal in all of the precious moisture and balance the skin.

And last, but certainly not least, is the cream: More than Moist. (Again, we’re not going to comment on the product names, haha!) This is the cream that will be a miracle for those with dry skin. It has a matte, ultra-creamy texture that melts like butter into the skin. If you want an even better treat, put in a few drops of the Oil Light and More and watch the glow up happen right before your eyes.

Have you tried anything from Huxley? What are your favorite products? Let me know in the comments!
