Whether you’re on a long romantic date or a squeezing in a quick, steamy one-nighter, you still have to think about taking care of your skin. (The last thing you want after a hot romp is to wake up with a giant pimple from last night’s oil and makeup.) Here, some easy ways to get your hookup skincare on without killing the mood.
Chocolate, candy hearts, proclamations of love … ahh, yes, the holiday of love is right around the corner. Listen, I’m just going to cut to the chase because we’re all adults here — Valentine’s Day is about getting it on, whether it’s with your long-time lover or a hottie you met on Tinder or Bumble. Honestly, it’s the thing that I like most about the holiday. #noshame
So fast forward. It’s the big love day and you’re planning on getting frisky with your boo thang. They’ve invited you to their house, and you’re maybe kinda freaking out about how you’re going to do your skincare routine when you don’t have your stash at your disposal. Fear not my loves, for I have you covered.

Prep a hookup skincare kit
My biggest tip is to do a little prep work in advance of the big day. This tip can also be used for all subsequent hookups and Tinder dates. If you’re a K-beauty connoisseur, there’s a good chance that you’ve collected a number of samples from all of the online purchases you’ve made. Well, instead of letting them collect dust in your skincare drawer, you can ensure that your skin looks glowing the morning after with a little prep time.
Sort out the samples by type: makeup removers, cleaners, essences, moisturizers, etc. Then take one of each sample to make a mini hookup skincare kit. If you’re super dedicated, you can buy skincare travel-size bottles from Amazon and fill in the gaps with your full-size products. Toss each set of products into a Ziploc bag. You can keep the hookup skincare kits in your bathroom until it’s time to toss one in your bag for your hot date. It might seem a bit extra, but a) I’m extra in general and don’t care, and b) skincare results are all about consistency. Products are important, sure, but a regular skincare routine is important, too. Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready is the motto.
Break it up, before and after 😉
You and your date have gone out to have dinner (or made dinner at home or gone on whatever cute date thing you’re doing) and things are getting a little hot and heavy back at the house. Record scratch. You haven’t washed your face. That bomb-ass smoky eye look and red lipstick are going to get all over the sheets. Plus, depending on the circumstances/position, you might work up a bit of a sweat while you’re getting it on. If you’re anything like me, sweating with makeup on is your Horcrux. My pores honestly clog faster than a freaking cheetah. Like, I cannot deal at all.
But of course, you don’t want to break up the mood by doing a freaking 10-step routine in the middle of your hookup session. So take a little lesson from me and excuse yourself to the bathroom to “freshen up.” There, you want to use some micellar water or a cleansing cloth to get the makeup off, then spritz your face with a super hydrating mist like the A’Pieu Mask Booster Mist (which is supposed to be used before you use a sheet mask, but it’s super hydrating so I use it whenever I want). Pat the mist in and then go back to your boo thang for some fun sexy times.
When you’re all finished, and you’ve done all your cuddling and stuff, you can finish the rest of your routine. Rinse and repeat for all subsequent hookup sessions and flourish!
I hope you all have a safe, fun, hot and sweaty Valentine’s day! If you have any skincare hookup tips to add, please feel free to add them below!
