From a totally cool, to-die-for beauty line to binge-worthy YouTube, this is the latest from K-beauty news and beyond that you need to know.
Extra, extra! Read all about it! We’re starting a new series called “Have you heard?” all about the latest in K-beauty news and even K-drama and K-pop — basically all things Korea! Let’s just dive right in, shall we?
Have you heard? There’s a cool, new-ish K-beauty brand in town
Before entering the skincare game, Son Daesik and Park Taeyoon (you may know them as the duo behind cult brand Son&Park) were (and still are) makeup artists at heart. Their passion for makeup resulted in their new ultra-luxurious, swoon-worthy brand Gesgep. Base makeup, eye shadows, lip products, and makeup boosting skincare are the core of the brand. Channeling their makeup artist backgrounds, the packaging is sleek, small, and portable.

But we warned, prices are quite steep — a single blush is $39, the One Drop Perfection Foundation (also, what a perfect name for a foundation) is about $50, and their Signature Contour Brush is nearly $80. Personally, I have my eye on the Preparing Cream, a cream designed to help makeup adhere better to the skin without melting or fading.

Have you heard? Get It Beauty heads to Malaysia
One of my favorite TV shows in the entire world is on the road to film in Malaysia! Get It Beauty On the Road has started filming their second season in Malaysia, with hosts Kim Jung-min and Kim Ki-soo. They duo, along with Malaysian actress and TV host Nadiyah Shahab, show beauty tips and tricks that cater to those living in the hot, humid, and perpetually sunny country. The focus is primarily on skincare, with tips for natural makeup thrown in for good measure. The show will also feature segments from the original Get It Beauty show, such as the Blind Test (my favorite) and the popular What’s in Your Bag segment.
Have you heard? Innisfree is relaunching their signature Green Tea line
The Innisfree Green Tea line, which is basically a rite of passage for K-beauty lovers, is getting a facelift. Well, the whole brand is getting a facelift, but the Green Tea collection is first in line. Instead of focusing so much on the natural ingredients from Jeju, Innisfree will instead bring its focus on technology and science, in an effort to separate itself from the overcrowded “clean/green” beauty crowd. The rebrand includes new product formulations, new logo, new packaging, and a huge expansion of retail stores across the U.S.

Have you heard? BLACKPINK is Korea’s most influential celebrities
BLACKPINK IN YA AREA! I mean, we have to stan the queens of K-pop, aka BLACKPINK. According to Forbes Korea, they are the #1 most influential K-pop group, beating out insanely popular groups like BTS, EXO, and Red Velvet. And as an added bonus, Queen Jennie has claimed the throne as the most-followed K-pop idol on Instagram. Congratulations to the baddest K-pop group on the planet!
