If these enticing endorsements don’t get you dying to read these books, nothing will. Enrich your mind (and your skin!) with the latest round of books and sheet mask pairings.

If you follow me on Instagram (@Sheryllrenata) and you’ve been following my stories, you’ll know that I’m on a mission to read 35+ books this year. I recently finished #27, have started by 28th, and by the time this gets published, I might already be finished with #35.

A bit of background — I started this challenge as a way to combat my depression. Last year, when I was probably the most depressed I’ve ever been in my life, I lost my ability to do anything. Literally anything. I had to force myself to take showers and wash my face, to get up and go to work. Reading is one of my most favorite things in the world, and I could not get myself to read a book. The result? I read maybe four books last year, which is … not great for someone like me who averaged 20+ a year. So, I decided to swing the pendulum all the way to the other side and set a goal for myself that I am 10,000% going to smash. What a time!

All of this is to say that I’ve done a LOT of reading and masking these past months, so I thought I’d share my favorite books and sheet mask pairings with you.

City of Girls

+ Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Mask

If you’re looking for a book that’s all about the glitz and glam of NYC in the ’30s and ’40s + a heartwarming tale of true love, the power of female friendships, and plenty of adventures, then City of Girls is gonna be for you. It’s just so magical and so empowering, and if you’re an audiobook kinda person, it’s super immersive, too.

This book is all about the GLAM, so I gotta pair it with the most luxurious mask that’s ever been made — the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Mask.

Recursion

+ Innisfree Second Skin Oil Serum Mask

Let me tell you about Recursion because LISTEN. This book took me on a journey and I still don’t think I’ve recovered. It’s one of those books that you can’t put down because you HAVE to know what happens next. I set a personal record and read this book in about a day and a half.

It’s about a NYC cop named Barry who’s trying to solve the mystery of a disease called False Memory Syndrome, which makes people go crazy with memories of a life they’ve never lived. I’m not going to say any more, but trust me, this book is a must read. I chose the Innisfree Second Skin Oil Serum Mask because this mask gives you the oil already built in, so you can just throw on a moisturizer and get right back to reading. Hashtag priorities.

The Flatshare

+ IOPE Live Lift Mask

Just thinking about how wonderful The Flatshare is makes me a bit weepy. If you’re a sucker for a GOOD love story, please read this book immediately. It’s the story of a woman who shares a flat (aka apartment) with a man — he works nights, so he lives in the apartment during the day, and she lives in the apartment at night. It’s quite unconventional, but slowly they start sharing notes back and forth to each other and then it’s just … swoon.

This book is like a warm hug, so that’s why I chose the Iope Live Lift Mask, which is basically a hug for your face. You’re welcome.

Where the Crawdads Sing

+ Papa Recipe Bombee Rose Gold Mask

At this point, everyone on the planet has to have read Where the Crawdads Sing. It’s been a #1 on The New York Times Best Seller list for about one million years. Usually, when books are insanely popular like this one, I don’t read it because the exposure is just too much. But I bought into the hype, and let me be the one to tell you that the hype is REAL. This book is an emotional roller coaster. It’s beautifully written and extremely emotional. Bring the tissues!

Like Crawdads, The Papa Recipe Bombee Rose Gold Masks are talked about a lot, and for good reason. They are truly that girl — they brighten, hydrate and give you an out-of-this-world glow — perfect after you’ve cried your eyes out after finishing this book.

Red, White and Royal Blue

+ Leaders Juicy Pina Colada Brightening Mask

Red, White and Royal Blue is a story about the first son of the U.S. (who is biracial white/Hispanic) and the Royal Prince of England who have a bitter rivalry and then end up falling in love. I am not exaggerating when I tell you this is one of the funniest, smartest, most endearing and meaningful books I’ve read this year. I have literally been telling everyone I can about it.

It pairs perfectly with the Leaders Juicy Pina Colada Brightening Mask because girl, things get steamy and you need a li’l drink (or chilled mask) to cool yourself off.

What books have you read recently? And what books and sheet mask pairings would you recommend? Let me know in the comments!
