Why reserve all the good stuff for your face when your body can also benefit from K-beauty ingredients?
K-beauty is a pioneer in many things. BB creams. Cushion compacts. Bomb ass sunscreens. Sheet masks. Snails. But body care? Ehhhhhhhh.
This isn’t to say that K-beauty body care products are bad — like most things, some products are top tier bomb dot com, and others are trash. So, I’d like to expand on that topic today with a focus on Korean body creams that are not a watery mess and actually moisturize my dry, eczema-prone skin.
Earth’s Recipe Cell Down Nourishing Cream
I can’t speak to the claims that this cream reduces cellulite (which is perfectly normal, and like 98% of humans have it), but this cream is a treat. As instructed, I use it before my workouts and after I shower to tighten and firm my skin. But we warned, it DOES tingle. Well, maybe more than tingle — it’s downright spicy. Once the heat sensation calms down, you can feel just how nourishing this cream is.
It contains a powerful blend of extracts, including magnolia bark extract, that works to boost your circulation and firm your skin. Wash your hands before AND after you use this lotion thoroughly — you don’t want this on your face!
La Muse Perfume Recovery Cream
I had literally zero expectations for this body cream to do much more than make me smell good. Typically all of the “perfume” body lotions out of Korea are solely another form of fragrance, something you layer to smell nice. BUT LISTEN. This cream is so rich, so creamy, and it also smells incredible. It’s touted as an “essence” body cream, or a blend of body oil and body lotion combined for a dose of moisture and hydration. The smell is neutral enough to layer with your favorite perfume, or you can wear it alone if that’s your jam.
Swanicoco Intensive Moisturizing Fermentation Body Lotion
Have you ever asked yourself why body care products don’t have sophisticated formulations like their skincare friends? Like WHY can’t I have fermented extracts on my body? Well, Swanicoco heard my plea and has a body lotion that is basically skincare for the body, and we have to stan. The second ingredient is Camellia sinensis extract ferment filtrate, so that should already tell you what the deal is. It also has green tea extract, over 20 different types of fermented extracts, AND it is actually quite moisturizing without it being too thick or sticky.
SanDaWha Luxury Camellia Soothing Body Oil
This isn’t a body cream, but I’m making an exception because this oil is the real effing deal. It’s made with a blend of camellia oil (69%!), grapeseed oil, evening primrose oil, as well as sandalwood and jasmine oils for a scent that’s to die for. I love to use a body oil after I’ve applied my body cream to seal in all of that yummy hydration + I love to look like a glistening rotisserie chicken, so there's that, too. This oil can be used literally from head to toe, or you can even add a few drops to your bathwater for a truly decadent experience.
Have you ever given Korean body creams a try? And if so, what’s your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
