If You Have Acne-Prone Skin, Stock Up on These Sheet Masks Now

These six sheet masks target all the different issues of acne-prone skin, from bacteria to oil overproduction to inflammation to PIH.

Sheet masks are one of my favorite Korean beauty products. I mean, they truly do it all: hydrate, moisturize, relieve dry patches, are hilarious to take a selfie in … the icon jumped out!

But now, we’re completely inundated with sheet masks. The other day, I went to CVS and Aveeno had sheet masks! I wouldn’t even be surprised if Cetaphil came out with one eventually.

So, in an effort to make your sheet mask shopping experience just a little bit easier, I’m going to do a little series where I give you the deets on my favorite masks for a variety of skin types. Today? It’s all about acne-prone skin.

If you have acne-prone skin, the struggle is finding a mask that has ingredients that will soothe your skin and reduce oil production, without upsetting your already (possibly) angry skin. It’s a delicate balance, but I think these six masks are up to the task.

1. Leaders AC Clear Treatment Mask

This mask is one of my ALL TIME favorite masks. It’s made with 100% natural cotton and is specially designed to treat excess oil production while soothing inflamed, irritated skin. Notable ingredients include snail mucin to calm angry skin and tea tree leaf oil that acts as an antibacterial to prevent new blemishes from forming.

2. Dr. Jart+ Dermask Micro Jet Clearing Solution Mask

This mask is formulated with salicylic acid, a proven and effective acne busting ingredient that “degunks” your skin; glutathione that helps to even out your skin tone (perfect for that pesky PIH); as well as tea tree oil and niacinamide.

3. Mediheal Tea Tree Essential Blemish Control Sheet Mask

Are you starting to notice a trend here? Tea tree is the star of the show in this sheet mask. It acts as an anti-inflammatory ingredient, so not only are your existing blemishes getting the royal treatment but it works to prevent future blemishes from forming. Willow bark is also along for the ride — it helps exfoliate your pores, while soothing chamomile calms redness and irritation.

4. My Beauty Diary Sahara Scenedesmus Oil Balancing Mask

Bacteria isn’t the only thing that causes acne, ya know. Oil overproduction is another cause of acne, and this mask, made with scenedesmus, a form of green algae found in hot, dry climates, maintains your skin’s moisture and hydration levels while simultaneously keeping your oil production in check. Oh, and there’s also some aloe vera to soothe inflamed skin and licorice root for a brightening boost.

5. Innisfree My Real Squeeze Green Tea Mask

Green tea is a known antioxidant ingredient. What does that mean? Well, it means that it can help reduce inflammation, so say bye-bye to those blemishes. This mask also gets bonus points for being eco-friendly — it’s made from eucalyptus and will decompose when it’s put in soil. We love to see it!

6. Leaders Mediu Amino Clearing Mask

This mask is another one of my favorites. It’s incredibly soothing, thanks to nourishing lotus flower extract. Oh, and it brightens too, because there’s some cute vitamin C thrown into the formulation, too.
