This Natural Pregnancy Body Care Line Helps Reduce Stretch Marks, Sore Legs, Tired Feet, and more — Whether You’re Expecting or Not
Looking for products that will help reduce stretch marks, sore legs, tired feet, and hydrate skin? Be prepared to fall in love with this all-natural body care collection.
As many women who are (or have been) pregnant know, the process of growing a child can present a whole host of bodily “side effects,” we’ll call them. Enter Mama Mio: While this soothing line can’t quite take care of morning sickness or food cravings, it can address common complaints including tired and heavy legs, stretch marks, and dry skin, which can certainly help contribute to overall well-being. Naturally, I was more than game to try it.

The catch? I’m not pregnant.
Like many women, I’ve got stretch marks galore on my chest and hips, and while they don’t necessarily bother me (they are completely normal, after all), I was interested to see if they could make a difference in my existing “stretchies” while hydrating my often-dry skin. Given that the original Mio line is known for being super moisturizing and packed with natural, botanical ingredients, I imagined that Mama Mio would take it to the next level.

After starting with their omega-rich Tummy Rub Butter, I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. Made with coconut oil, sweet almond oil, shea butter, and vitamin E, this product is all the best things about a “traditional” body butter — nourishing, luxurious, and super hydrating — without the heaviness. In fact, I’d say the texture was closer to regular lotion. I used it mainly on my thighs and hips since that’s where many of my stretch marks live, and while I’m sure it takes time to see results on that front from any stretch mark protection cream, the silky-smooth texture of this product would make it worth using just for the moisturizing benefits.
And, while I generally prefer tubes to jars (so I don’t have to scoop out product with my hands), I instantly forgave the packaging when I opened it up to find the loveliest, lightest orange oil and bergamot scent (though my first guess was lemon verbena). Without being overpowering, it’s easily my favorite scented beauty product I’ve tried. In fact, it’s designed to bring a little more “happy” into your day, and I can attest that it does just that.

I followed the Tummy Rub Butter with their Tummy Rub Oil to lock it in, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that this product had that same uplifting scent. I also loved the easy pump packaging, as compared to body oils with droppers or ones you shake into your hand (which, for me, usually ends with slippery bottles and random oil splotches in the bathroom).
The benefit that surprised me most about this hydrating, stretch-mark-protecting combo was how quickly it soaked in — within one to two minutes, my skin was completely smooth and dry (in a good way), with no trace of stickiness. And as much as I love decadent body oil, that’s often hard to come by. Another winner.

Next up was their aptly named Pregnancy Boob Tube. Formulated with squalene, aloe vera, and cabbage leaf extract (which, apparently, helps soothe sore breasts), this soothing bust cream left my girls feeling super soft. Again, while I’m sure it takes time for stretch mark benefits to kick in, it was still a treat to use in the meantime.
Similar to the Tummy Rub Butter, the texture wasn’t as thick as I expected it to be — a bit more like body milk, or a serum-meets-lotion. It was a little slicker than the first two products I tried, but not in a Vaseline kind of way, and it absorbed very quickly.

The last product I tried, and my favorite, was their Lucky Legs — and I had lucky legs, indeed. Unlike the first three products, this one had a strong peppermint scent, a cue of the soothing benefits to come.
Sore and generally fatigued from a tough workout the day before, this magical tube offered instant relief to my legs, like a shot of energy. (In fact, the scent is pretty energizing for your mind, too). I’ll absolutely use this product after a day in high heels or after flying (looking forward to doing that much more in the future!) for that same relief. The best part? It also left my legs smooth and soft, which I didn’t expect.
Overall, I was seriously impressed by this line — and for confirmation, I had my eight-months-pregnant friend test them out, too. She offered, in essence, the same review: She loved the scent, the way they felt when she applied them, and that they soaked in quickly.
As for me, I also love that Mama Mio’s products are vegan, cruelty-free, and tested by dermatologists and that most of their packaging is totally recyclable (with the exception of the pump itself in the body oil, which they’re working on). Good for mothers and mother Earth — and everyone in between.
