My Skin is Firmer, Plumper and More Hydrated After Using Fillerina’s Newest Hyaluronic Acid Innovation

Yet another game-changer from this groundbreaking skincare brand.

If you’ve read any of my reviews, you know that I am a beauty overachiever. If twice a week is recommended, I often multiply that by two with the goal of doubling the positive results. This is definitely NOT the case with exfoliation, acid or even retinoids, but with Fillerina, it just might be...

Labo – the Italian subsidiary of the Swiss company Labo Cosprophar AG – launched Fillerina in 2012 as the first dermo-cosmetic replenishing gel for at home use. So, what does this mean? Basically, it’s when a company uses cutting edge science to combine cosmetology with dermatology to produce highly effective, specialized skincare products. And in the case of the Fillerina 12HA Desifying-Replenishing Preparation, this gel delivers professional office-level results at home when used correctly - similar to my other obsession, the Trophy Skin MicrodermMD professional-grade home microdermabrasion system.

Breaking Down The Bioscience

Just as there are three basic types of hyaluronic acid (HA) –hydrolyzed, sodium hyaluronate and sodium acetylated hyaluronate – there are also three layers of skin – subcutaneous fat, the dermis and the epidermis – and the Densifying-Replenishing Preparation is formulated with a patented blend of 12 HAs of different molecular weights and sizes to penetrate and hydrate your skin at every level.

As we all know, hyaluronic acid is naturally present in our bodies and diminishes with age, and those lower levels lead to wrinkles and loss of volume. If we can effectively replenish our store of HA, it can lead to firmer, plumper skin. Add in skin’s additional building blocks – collagen and elastin – all with varying molecular weights, and these ingredients work synergistically to improve skin elasticity and plasticity. Labo has found the most functional combination of each by means of Franz Cell lab testing, which determines the amount of active drug able to pass through the skin’s permeable membrane.

The result? Trials including 1,200 volunteers showed 95% positive comments and results.

Count me number 1,201.

Presentation is Everything

The packaging on this product is similar to others in the Fillerina line - clean and clinical. The white box flips open to reveal two stout glass bottles of product, the Densifying-Replenishing Gel and the Nourishing Film, accompanied by two syringe applicators and detailed instructions. The preparation comes in three different concentrations – from 3 to 5 – graded according to depth of wrinkles and expression lines, and loss of texture, elasticity and volume. I used Grade 4.

Next Level Skincare Experience

The instructions recommend that you use this system at night on a clean face. Check. I’m using a tea tree-based cleanser right now and it does tend to dry me out. so I was ready for some super HAs. I used the first syringe to draw 1 ml of gel that I then applied directly over my smile and smoker’s lines (hey, I quit, but Father Time won’t let me forget it) and that damn dent in my chin. Then I sucked another syringe full to spackle my crow’s feet and the wrinkles in my forehead (remind me to make that Botox appointment, mmkay?). Then I waited the required 10 minutes before pressing the odorless, somewhat viscous clear gel into the skin on the rest of my face and neck. I was left looking shiny and feeling tacky, with some residue pilling up over my eyes and above my lip – something the directions tell you is totally normal and not to worry about because your skin will absorb what it needs. I used the next syringe to draw up 1 ml of the mildly herbaceous smelling Nourishing Cream, which I dotted on my forehead, cheeks and chin before first patting it in, but on subsequent applications, I must admit, I smoothed it over my skin and felt like it absorbed more thoroughly.

Full disclosure: I pulled at those pills of gel and got the small satisfaction of a peel off mask. I’m a picker. What can I say?

Results Worth Bragging About

I saw a difference that very first morning. We’re talking plump, elastic morning skin that amazingly enough, I had zero desire to pick at - HUZZAH! (Binge watching The Great on Hulu, obvi).

I followed these steps as directed for (the minimum) two weeks, forgoing my usual skincare regime. I also used my at-home microdermabrasion machine four times. At the end of those 14 days, my skin is firmer, plumper and more hydrated. I can really see the difference in the superficial smile lines on my cheeks and the deep depression in my chin is less severe. I plan on taking a week off to reintroduce my retinol before diving back in to look my best for those holiday parties.

Thinking of joining me on this transformational journey? Jump now.

The preparation is 20 percent off for a limited time and well worth every penny.
