Going Makeup-Free is Easier than Ever with This Skin-Smoothing Serum

Time to go au naturel.
CLE Cosmetics partnered with Beautytap’s diverse community of certified beauty professionals for trusted, detailed, unpaid reviews around some of their innovative skincare products. We are sharing this post with you as part of this collaboration and to learn more about their brand. All opinions are our own and are not influenced by CLE Cosmetics. Thank you for your support.
As someone with dry skin, I’ve learned the hard way that moisturizer alone is simply not enough - especially in the dead of winter. Those of us with dry skin need serums and other heavy lifters to stay happy and hydrated, which is why CLE Cosmetics Serumide is my new personal superhero.
Keeps Moisture Locked In Without Fuss
This multi-tasking CLE serum contains 4% ceramide concentrate, a true treat for the skin. Ceramides are a family of lipid molecules that occur naturally as part of the skin barrier. They help keep moisture locked in so that hydration stays put. Ceramides can also help ward off pollution and other environmental factors that can cause trouble for skin. In short, they’re a ticket to a glowing complexion even in the harshest elements. Of course, this serum isn’t just made up of mountain-moving ceramides alone. Serumide also includes antioxidants, amino acids, and hyaluronic acid for extra hydration and age-busting.
From A Brand Like No Other
I’ve been a fan of CLE Cosmetics for a while now, and one of the reasons the brand stands out is its artistic approach to beauty. CLE’s founder, Lauren Jin, began her career in the fashion world. Clothes were her first creative medium, and as she began telling stories and evoking emotion through style, she realized she wanted to expand that practice to the world of beauty. Lauren was inspired by the intimacy of skincare. As we touch our faces to apply product and gaze into our reflections each day, we get pretty personal with ourselves – and CLE is designed to complement that journey.
CLE intends to provide an open-ended beauty experience, where each customer invited to create their own rituals based on what feels right for them. While CLE’s product line works great when used all together, it was also thoughtfully designed so that each individual product can shine on its own. The brand is a fit for those with hours to devote to their skincare routine and for minimalists with just a few minutes each day. It’s adaptable because beauty is better when it’s inclusive.
Hydration That’s Tougher Than Sub-Zero Temps
Serumide is an embodiment of CLE’s philosophy in action. The bottle’s chic, minimalist design is meant to serve as something of a blank slate for your own individual experience. Lauren chose a white lid for the bottle, and for CLE’s larger design story, because “if you stare at white long enough, your conscious and subconscious automatically fills it.”
When I tried Serumide for the first time, the first thing I noticed was its silky texture. It went on smoothly and had a calming eucalyptus and rosemary scent. I applied Serumide around the same time as my moisturizer so the serum could work its magic to keep the hydration locked in. After spending time outside in the cold soon afterward, I noticed there weren’t any of those dry flakes that sometimes surface for me on winter days.
A few days into regularly using the serum, spending time outdoors became less and less visually damaging to my skin, and my complexion still felt soft when I got back inside. Before Serumide, low temperatures or high winds were a death knell for any hope I had of a hydrated glow. I’d even gotten into the habit of tucking extra moisturizers into my purse because cold commutes would fry my face before I made it to wherever I was going.
Now, it’s starting to look like that habit might be permanently behind me.
Makeup-Free and Loving It
CLE asserts that products do best when they highlight your natural state, and I definitely feel that way while using Serumide. With a soft, moisturized complexion, going makeup-free is no big deal. The brand sees skincare rituals as ways to care for our bodies amid all that they do for us. In adding this extra layer of protection to my skin, applying Serumide feels like a very literal act of self-care.
Showing love for your skin doesn’t get much easier than that – and perhaps that’s no surprise coming from a brand that champions celebrating our own innate beauty.
