The red carpet celebrated of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibit.

Celebrities captivated with bespoke elegance while beauty trends balanced bold statements and refined sophistication. From retro-inspired hair and sparkling accessories to lustrous skin and impeccable makeup, these custom looks were unforgettable.

Discover insider tips from top industry experts and the must-have products that defined the evening’s brilliance.

Sculpted Coiffures

Hair stole the spotlight, merging timeless splendor with modern flair through kiss curls, finger waves, and platinum pixies.

Megan Thee Stallion’s glamorous mane, inspired by Josephine Baker, was crafted by Kellon Derrick. “I left the very top of the bun loose and created curls with my T3 1-inch Singlepass Curl X,” says Derrick. “I finished the look by brushing the curls out with my Tangle Teezer and setting the curls with GlamSculpt.”

Swooping kiss curls framed Sydney Sweeney’s lovely visage. Stylist Glen Oropeza designed her tresses using FHI Heat and Kérastase, with breathtaking color courtesy of Jacob Schwartz and Schwarzkopf Professional’s Igora Vario Blond SuperPlus Igora Vibrance.

Short was chic and white gold glimmered. Ciara was a vision in Schwarzkopf Keratin Color + göt2b by celebrity hairstylist Cesar Ramirez. And Emma Chamberlain lit up the red carpet thanks to colorist Anthony Vincent and Schwarzkopf Professional. “I used BLONDME 9+ to achieve the maximum level of lift while being able to maintain the hair’s integrity,” says Vincent. “When it comes to toning, I enjoy using IGORA Vibrance because Schwarzkopf Professional has the best level 10 blonde shade range. It’s the ultimate gloss and leaves the hair with a beautiful sheen.”

Joey King flaunted fabulous waves by celebrity hairstylist Rena Calhoun and new luxury haircare brand Bur Bur. For King’s sumptuous locks, Calhoun shared “I wanted something that felt rich, cinematic, and slightly surreal. With the Bur Bur Ludmila Brush we leaned into classic brushed-out waves, sculpted just enough to feel intentional without being stiff to balance the boldness of the suit. As a final touch I misted a subtle veil of Parfums de Marly Delina Hair Perfume to leave a gentle, luxurious scent every time she moved—because every detail should feel memorable.”

Loyal to her Australian roots, Miranda Kerr showcased BondiBoost’s hair wellness products. Teaming with hair stylist Ericka Verrett, Kerr's 1950s Old Hollywood updo was shaped with the Everlast Airstyler and Infrared Bounce Brush. HG Dry Shampoo added volume, Bond Builder+ Finishing Oil lent shine, and the Flyaway Wand tamed frizz for a flawless finish.

Luminous Skin

Luxe products and innovative devices enhanced natural beauty. Radiant skin was everywhere as stars shone bright with camera ready complexions.

Andra Day / Source: @andradaymusic/ Instagram

International esthetician Adeela Crown finessed A-listers with her renowned artistry and La Prairie skincare. “Nicky Hilton’s skin-style is the definition of timeless. We went classic with a twist—cryo-sculpting followed by La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Harmony L’Extrait for that porcelain-firm finish,” says Crown. “Nicky always asks for my hands—she knows I bring the best tech, but it’s the energy from the fingertips that seals it. I gave her sculpting and tightening with my Skin Dance massage, paired with La Prairie’s Life Matrix Cream for that lifted, porcelain-firm finish.”

In sync with Andra Day, Crown said “Her glow started with ultrasound infusion of La Prairie’s White Caviar Essence to energize and prep the skin, then I sealed it in with the White Caviar Illuminating Cream using my signature Skin Dance sculpting method—a rhythmic, energetic massage where even the client picks up a few moves to help their glow hit the high notes.”

Crown was in good humor with Yvonne Orji: “Yvonne’s skin is naturally luminous, so I focused on sculpting with microcurrent and La Prairie’s newest White Caviar Light Concentrate to lift, brighten, and define—call it skincare contouring without the makeup,” she says.

Suki Waterhouse, Sabrina Carpenter, Maluma, and Joey King were pampered by a Joanna Czech facial featuring the newly launched LYMA Laser PRO. “The LYMA Laser PRO offers even skin tone, hydrated skin and a sculpted face,” says Czech. “Since using it, my clients have noticed brighter skin, increased skin elasticity, controlled rosacea, and reduced pore size and fine lines, making the LYMA Laser PRO the perfect tool for the perfect base.”

Rachel Brosnahan / Source: @lisaaharon

Rachel Brosnahan’s fresh face was superpowered by makeup artist Lisa Aharon. “To get Rachel’s skin glowing and calm before makeup, I prepped with all EltaMD,” says Aharon. “Her skin needed calming, lightweight hydration that would support the makeup without overwhelming it, so we tailored every step to be gentle, barrier-strengthening, and glow-boosting. We kept the skin fresh, luminous, and effortless.” Aharon’s go-tos: Skin Recovery Essence Toner, Sin Recovery Serum, AM Restore Moisturizer, Renew Eye Gel, and UV Broad Spectrum SPF 40.

Prepped by facialists Lord Gavin McLeod-Valentine and Desireé Delia, high performance skincare Augustinus Bader was resplendent on beauties including Dua Lipa, Zoe Saldaña, Ego Nwodim, and FKA Twigs.

“Augustinus Bader came into my life during a transformational change in my skin a couple of years ago,” says FKA Twigs. “Now I need things that are slightly more nourishing, and my skin really wants to be hydrated. The Cream perfectly hydrates my skin; it’s always a really good makeup base with a beautiful glow to it."

Simone Biles / Source: @ashley.stewart.beauty

Prepped by makeup artist Ashley Stewart, Simone Biles earned another gold. “I always say full glam starts with body prep. I used Murad’s new Retinal Resculpt Body Treatment on Simone from the neck down—arms, shoulders, back, legs—everywhere her skin would show. It instantly hydrated, visibly firmed, and gave this gorgeous satin finish that looked amazing under the lights. It’s like shapewear in a bottle.”

Met Gala co-chair Coleman Domingo’s skin was as smooth as his swagger, enlivened by Charlotte Tilbury’s skincare collection. Plant-based Herbivore was makeup artist Lilly Keys’ choice for Emma Chamberlain, opting for Pink Cloud Rosewater + Tremella Creamy Jelly Cleanser, Nova 15% Vitamin C + Turmeric Brightening Serum, Tremella Silky Hydration Gel Cream (this buzzy brand’s latest creation), Super Nova 5% Vitamin C + Caffeine Brightening Eye Cream, and Lapis Balancing Facial Oil. “Skin prep is everything for me, and Herbivore delivers that lit-from-within glow that anchors the full look,” says Keys.

Prior to any red carpet, celebrity makeup artist Georgie Eisdell is a fan of Bio-Therapeutic's bt-sculpt “it gives that lifted, toned, sculpted look that just makes everything glow,” she says. It’s a professional-grade microcurrent treatment that wows in just six minutes.

Ncuti Gatwa, groomed by Carlos Ferraz, was energized after ZIIP HALO microcurrent and nano treatments. “The ZIIP Halo is my go-to for snatched cheekbones, lifted brows, and glowing skin before any major event or red carpet moment,” says Ferraz.

Makeup artist Amber Dreadon cared for Clairo’s dewy complexion using First Aid Beauty’s gentle exfoliating Facial Radiance Pads, Brighten & Glow Eye Cream, Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration and the Ultra Repair Lip Balm, ensuring glassy skin for the eve.

High Gloss Nude Lips

Ultra shiny, neutral-toned kissers were polished and poised. On par with a tailored theme, clean, sumptuous lips complemented elaborate garb with panache.

Zendaya / Source: @ernestocasillas

Zendaya was rockin’ (à la Bianca Jagger) in Charlotte Tilbury’s Big Lip Plumpgasm in Nudegasm Diamonds, applied by makeup artist Ernesto Casillas. “The contrasting liner and gloss delivered a plumped, high-shine finish,” says Casillas. Big Lip Plumpgasm was also lush on Doechii, amplifying a rich brown nude with high-gloss shine.

Rihanna / Source: MEGA

Mama-to-be Rihanna was glistening in Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb Shimmer Stix, ready to smooch her new little one. Sydney Sweeney donned Armani Beauty’s Prisma Glass Lip Gloss. Gigi Hadid, Coco Jones, and Jennie all smiled with shimmery standout pouts.

Sophisticated Eyes

Eye shadows reflected depth and allure—classic and creative in smoky, warm, and pastel hues.

Style legend and Met Gala co-chair, Anna Wintour, paired baby powder shadow with a color coordinated coat. “The whole thing has just come together in a way that is magical,” Wintour said about the festivities.

Pat McGrath infused 1980s glam for Doja Cat and Chappell Roan. “For Doja’s look, we wanted to channel the surreal elegance of a hand-drawn sketch—something both animated and architectural,” says McGrath. "The pastel eyeshadow from the Mothership XII: Petalmorphosis palette created a soft yet structured lid, amplifying the tailored drama of the night.”

Host Teyana Taylor was stunning in Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Mulberry. Cardi B.’s verdant shade echoed her vibrant suit. NARS Eyeshadow Palette painted Hailey Bieber with warm bronze tones.

Kim Kardashian fluttered with Makeup by Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Pallette in The Original and The Neutrals. “I’m so excited to have worked with Kim on our 10th Met Gala look together,” says Mario Dedivanovic. “We sculpted her face beautifully with my new and soon-to-be-released bronzer and added a soft feminine pop of color to the cheeks.”

Charlotte Tilbury’s palettes enriched the night’s glitz. Demi Moore was a delight in Super Nudes Easy Eye Palette and Eyes to Mesmerise in Champagne. Megan Thee Stallion’s showstopping look featured Beautifying Eye Trends Palette in Sensual Sunset. And The White Lotus optimist Aimee Lou Wood radiated joy in Charlotte’s Beautifying Eye Trends in Super Neutral.

Enchanting Accessories

A bevy of fashionistas were accentuated by bejeweled faces, playful adornments, and extravagant hats galore.

Diana Ross / Source: @metgalaofficial_

Diva Diana Ross, in feathered grandeur, wore a glittery bindi. “The rhinestone on Diana’s forehead was inspired by the idea of a third eye—symbolizing wisdom and legacy,” says stylist Uno Mozie. “It was a small but powerful detail to honor her as a cultural icon while nodding to the theme’s exploration of Black identity through adornment.”

Diana’s daughter, Tracee Ellis Ross, turned heads in a glorious Marc Jabobs chapeau. Colman Domingo’s striking ear cuff added suave, while Jonquel Jones sported pearlescent golden baubles. Janelle Monáe’s timepiece monocle was tastefully clever. Lupita Nyong’o’s rhinestone-embellished brows were divine. Alex Consani’s 3D crystal face appliqués brought élan. Posh in netted veils were both Halle Berry and Halle Bailey. And Cynthia Erivo’s heart-shaped beauty mark had twinkling charm.
