This is a “Would You Wear This?” Wednesday: Makeup Edition 💄
So I was looking at some makeup 2020 trends and I stumbled upon a trend that has popped up in the past but has made another come back…I have yet to see it become mainstream yet even though it’s plastered all over magazine’s and editorials.
Top makeup artists predict nontraditional eyeliner colors will continue to grow more and more popular. Cream and white eyeliner are said to be huge in 2020, especially for those who are afraid of a traditional black liner, this trend will be a great introduction.
I’ve attempted a white liner on my lower lid lightyears ago when it was “the thing to do” 🙄 I had no idea what it[Read more]
So we know what a moisture barrier is and what a damaged one is as well as the signs and symptoms. I found a great list that hits on key causes of a compromised moisture barrier starting with the most common, OVER EXFOLIATION! It is typically suggested to exfoliate at least 2-3 times per week and depending on the type of exfoliation used and the current state of your skin that may be an acceptable time table. In the world of K-beauty exfoliation is often times a 1-2 times per month treatment because they understand the importance of keeping skin moisturized and not stripping it of its natural oils. Take a look at the rest of the list in the attached picture and see if you fall in any of the[Read more]
In the last Q&A I talked about what your skin’s moisture barrier is. Today I will give you some insight on what a damaged moisture barrier is and some common symptoms. When the skin’s protective barrier gets damaged, it creates small, invisible cracks in the skin. Through these cracks, moisture can easily escape and irritants can enter more easily. Your skin lost its protective seal and can get tight, dry and sensitive. Almost every skin problem can be traced back to a compromised skin barrier. Symptoms of a damaged moisture barrier include:redness/rosacea/flakiness/peeling/dryness (lack of oil)/dehydration (lack of water)/tightness (dehydration from lack of water)/skin feels sensitive[Read more]
What Is A Moisture Barrier?
You may be wondering what exactly this moisture barrier everyone keeps mentioning when talking about skincare. Well it’s very important and it’s what we are working on building up and preserving when we apply our skincare products.
Your barrier is the outermost layer of the skin that provides protection to help retain water and moisture, and defend against external irritants like bacteria and environmental debris from penetrating through and causing sensitive reactions. (Think of it as your skin’s own bodyguard to keep the good in and the bad out.) The barrier is made up of lipids (oils) that bind your skin cells together, and when it’s intact, it’s respo[Read more]
I get it, you have oily skin and you want all the oil GONE and that makes perfect sense but hear me out. We should all have a balance of natural oils (sebum) and water on our face. When people have dry skin they have an under production of oils and when they have oily skin they have an overproduction of oils. Both can suffer from water loss and therefore be dehydrated. Maintaining a balanced level of moisture and hydration is key to having healthy beautiful skin. Don’t skip your moisturizer step just because you’re afraid of having a “greasy” look/feel. Look for products that say things like oil free for a lightweight moisturizer.

Dealing with dry/oily/dehydrated/acneic/inflammed/hyperpigmented skin can be quite frustrating to deal with and can be the cause of a number of things. Having a full consultation with a professional should always be your first go to. Have patience because sometimes figuring out the external and internal causes of compromised skin can be more like detective work as we narrow it down one potential cause at a time.
Aside from scheduling a monthly facial, having an at home skincare routine is just as important if not more. Any skincare routine you do on a consistent basis is going to yield a huge impact on the outcome of your skin. Choosing the proper products is key to healing, balancing and[Read more]
Gen Zer or Millennial? Makeup, Skincare, Both?
Growing up as a young teen I most definitely had the pink-orange Neutrogena face wash and I am pretty sure it was just because of marketing and everyone else had it because I rarely had a pimple growing up. As far as makeup goes I did’t even wear foundation for the longest time, it was just an eyeliner and a 99 cent lip gloss roll on (you know if you know lol). As I got older my makeup routine got stronger and longer but not so much my skincare. I only started to care about my skincare routine in my mid 20’s and it wasn’t that in depth. Now however, I have fully embraced both and am continuously learning new tips and tricks.

As an esthetician I know that many people deal with acne and acne scarring. Some of the most sought after products are ones that target post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) and even out skin tone.
Vitamin C is a must have in anyone’s arsenal as it protects skin cells from damaging free radicals from the sun (UV) and inhibits melanin production which helps to lighten uneven skin tone, enhancing skin radiance.
SanDaWha’s Vitamin C Whitening Essence is a product you should put on the top of your list for that healthy even glow everyone is after.
Product Wow Factor: Ascorbyl Glucoside, Vitamin C + B vitamin niacinamide.
