I have become a serious fan of oils for hydration, and am also trying to do what I can to support Black communities during a time where so many companies mistreat their people who make their business possible. One of the many brands our there living up to this mission is True Moringa. They have supported their community in Northern Ghana by providing farming jobs and they have supported our earth by planting more than 2 million trees! As this oil is used for taming hair frizz, soothing cuticles, and a final hydration step in the morning or the evening, you can’t go wrong with this truly incredible pro[Read more]

What’s just as important as your skin care routine and products you use? The food and liquids you put into your body! My mother made smoothies for my sisters and I as children, and as I have grown I continued to make them because it is truly the easiest way to consume a large amount of fruits, vegetables, and even nuts and seeds. I would love to help you create your own smoothie routine! Also, can’t forget how important a healthy 7-9 hours of sleep every night is. The skin is the body’s largest organ, and it is highly impacted by what you put into your body and how well your brain is able to function. Taking care of your body results in better skin health.

Has your mask been causing skin problems? Beautytap talks with doctors about how to best help your skin with irritation and break outs.
“Restoring the skin’s natural barrier function is key, so use a moisturizer that is designed for your specific skin type. Products containing r hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) and ceramides help the skin retain moisture and fight irritation. For spot treating, she suggests applying hydrocolloid patches over open break-outs to protect them from further irritation. These dots help to absorb moisture and flatten the blemishes.”

“He’s tired of using 3-in-1 body, hair, and face wash. I’ve made a breakthrough.”
Beauty Fans come and get your mans onto some skin care!! It is wonderful to see public opinion shifting towards a more equal society in so many ways, and this includes skin care for men, because they have skin too 🙂

Something I have avoided for years is wearing sunscreen on my face. They all leave a residue, a white cast, smell awful, you know how it goes. I have avoided going to the beach or amusement parks for the sole reason that I didn’t want to wear sunscreen because I couldn’t also wear makeup over it to cover my hyperpigmentation and blemishes. While doing what I can to treat those problems so I may eventually be able to go without foundation, K-Beauty is coming through with products that are very promising for those like me!

K-Beauty is far more than just the products we use, it’s a lifestyle! Maybe you have the same experience I have had in Western skin care culture: aggressively treating blemishes with harsh products that only seemed to worsen my blemishes and made my skin dry, and using cleansers and moisturizers that were not working for my skin. This article goes over the basics of a K-Beauty skin care routine- not products, but fundamental procedure.

Worries of preservatives in your products? Understandable, but Beautytap has come to this conclusion based on all the information available to them! Hopefully this will soothe any anxiety surrounding this issue.
“The potential risks of standard preservatives are iffy at best, unsupported by research or regulatory bodies, and typically propagated via misinterpretations of research. Meanwhile, the risks of bacterial growth and mold colonies in my skincare are very real. The choice between unpronounceable substances in an ingredients list and chunks of stringy mystery growth in my serums is clear to me. I’ll take the preservatives I can’t pronounce any day.”
