Thinking of Trying Oral CBD? Here’s What You Need To Know
Experts weigh in on ingestible CBD. Do you ever feel like your body’s out of balance? Like something just isn’t quite right? If so, you may be in the market to try an oral version of CBD. Given that a Google search for “CBD ingestible” returns nearly[Read more]

Sounds perfect, right? Just go to the store or dermatologist, buy the latest and greatest retinoid product, and watch the years fade away. Unfortunately, it’s rarely that simple.

If you’re passionate about self-care and looking for products to potentially relieve aches and pains or make restless nights a little easier, CBD formulations might be the answer. Read about Naternal in my latest brand editorial for Beautytap.
See how shiny my hair is? That’s courtesy of the Detangling Toning Mist from Philip B! My hair is highlighted, long, and very fine, which means it tangles like crazy when wet. Correction: It used to tangle. Now, I spritz this mist on right after I turn off the shower, and the apple cider vinegar closes the hair’s cuticle, so I can comb through the length effortlessly. My new best friend! Coming soon — my editorial on Philip’s amazing brand as well as a full review of his Peppermint Avocado Shampoo, which invigorates the scalp and gives my hair lift and volume, which is a real challenge since it is not layered on top.
Question for the collective: Are there any other esteemed beauty experts that collect fude? If so, show me your collection (or parts of it). These are my “Beautylish Presents” Lunar New Year brushes. 2020 is on the left; 2021 is on the right. These are made by a famous Japanese brush making company (can’t say who) and they’re made with blue squirrel hair. Too gorgeous for words!
I try to limit my January beauty purchases while paying off things I bought over the holidays. That said, nothing stops me from buying the Lunar New Year brushes from Beautylish. Here’s the 2021 brush for the Year of the Ox. Isn’t it gorgeous?
It’s made with blue squirrel hair and makie lacquer from a well known Japanese fude maker (whose brushes I collect and use almost exclusively). These are still available on Beautylish under “Beautylish Presents.” They’re limited editions, so grab one if this is in your budget.
I love starting off the year with a good sale, and Koh Gen Do delivered. They recently reformulated the Maifanshi Moisture Foundation, which I’ve been using for nearly five years, so they put the original formula on sale. I snapped one up along with a contour and highlighter kit, cheek kit, and an eyeshadow palette (not shown). If you’re curious about this brand, let me know. Their foundation is skincare-centric and utilizes their T3 oil combination (jojoba, olive, squalane, and shea butter) to keep skin soft, supple, and dewy. Love, love, love!
December Empties — And the winners in this lot are:
💖+ Sulwhasoo Timetreasure Renovating Cream (my last mini) 💖+ Tretinoin gel (staple since 2017) 💖+ Epicuren Discovery Apricot Cream Cleanser 74ml (Favorite Cream Cleanser of 2020) 💖+True Moringa Simplicity Pure Moringa Face, Hair, Body Oil 30ml (2020 Best Multipurpose Oil) 💖Tarte Stay Spray setting spray (staple since 2019) 💖+ “El Born” from Carner Barcelona (2020 Fave Fragrance Discovery)
Heartbreaking failure: 😞 COSRX C23 Vitamin C Serum – The ingredient list is stellar, but it stung my skin so bad every time I tried it that I discarded the bottle at 80% full.
Once upon a time, there were three little organic facial soaps that I had to try. I’ve almost finished up the Rose Clay facial bar and am seriously impressed that it doesn’t strip my skin. If you’re interested in learning about Osmia Organics, check out my latest editorial and stay tuned for part two where we explore some of Osmia’s great options.
These four products have found a permanent home in my routine: Epicuren Discover Sol Gemstone Oil; Epicuren Orange Blossom After Bath Lotion; True Moringa Tranquility (Moringa + Lavender) Face, Hair, Body Oil 30ml; Grow Gorgeous Volume Root Stimulator 150ml; and El Born fragrance from Carner Barcelona

Looking for a lightweight sleeping mask to calm and hydrate your skin? I discovered the Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask 60ml through the Beautytap sample program. That tiny jar in the middle of the picture was enough to sell me on not just one full-size jar but two.
As the year comes to a close, I’ve taken stock of some of my skincare favorites of 2020. Epicuren Discovery Apricot Cream Cleanser 74ml Epicuren Discovery Colostrum Luminous Glow Cream 60ml AZN Labs Afterglow Ampoule 35ml Restorsea Revitalizing Eye Cream 15g, Epicuren Discovery Hyaluronic Acid, and Macrene Actives High Performance Face Cream.
If you’ve read many of my posts or articles, you know I’m a Sulwhasoo girl through and through. A few months ago, I mentioned to Jude Chao that I was thinking of making a shadowbox for some of my empties. This is the early version! And, yes, these are empty … except for the LE pink chrome bottle that I’m working on now. Pretty, huh?
Have you read my editorial on digital sampling? I’m fascinated by AI and AR and the role they’re now playing in the beauty purchasing realm. I played with the YouCam Makeup app recently, and it actually gave me a look I can use for Christmas Eve. What’cha think? Read about how this works here: https://beautytap.com/2020/12/digital-sampling-beauty-products/

I recently tried a deluxe sample of the COSRX Full Fit Propolis Light Cream (5ml) and was pleasantly surprised. Although the name says “cream,” my skin says, “water gel.” This product absorbs LIGHTNING fast, and I was tempted to apply a second layer but resisted. Even on a cold, windy day, my skin felt comfortable at the 9-hour mark. This would be great for spring/summer for normal to combination skin. Since I also wear sunscreen every day, I also felt this worked best with either Epicuren Discovery’s Zinc or Shiseido’s Senka Aging Care SPF. Definitely a keeper!
