First contributing editor Coco Park raved about them. Then Sheryll Donerson got in on the act. Is it any wonder JayJun sheet masks are a K-Beauty Squad fave? Here, Sheryll explains why.
I was on a self-imposed no-buy for about six months because honestly, my life was overflowing with products, and it was kinda ridiculous to keep buying more. But last month, I broke my no-buy and temporarily lost my mind and spent a lot of money and bought a lot of fun things. Most importantly, I finally tried JayJun sheet masks and my life has been changed.
JayJun is a new-to-me luxury K-beauty brand that is known for its magical and game-changing sheet masks. They even partnered with actress Drew Barrymore for an exclusive sheet mask collaboration. They make other things (like cleansers, creams, essences, and the like), but really, we are here to talk about the sheet masks because honestly, they are everything.
It all started when my bae Coco (@thebeautywolf) shared how much she loved the JayJun Anti-Dust Whitening sheet masks. And if Coco loves it, I love it, tbh. I put them on my wish list, and then one day, one of my favorite sites had them on sale, so I had to snatch them up, along with the Intensive Shining Mask (a favorite of my forever skin goals, Gabrielle Union).
So why are these masks so special? Well, first of all, the packaging is out of this world. I think brands are realizing not only do their products have to be effective, they need to look good for the ’gram, too. The Anti-Dust Whitening one in particular is gorgeous — it’s like a floral botanical garden dream.
I also like how the Intensive Shining flavor, the Anti-Dust Whitening flavor, and the Anti-Dust Therapy versions all are sheet mask sets, which means they not only have a sheet mask but also have some version of a cleanser or an essence or an eye cream. For example, the Intensive Shining mask comes with an essence and an eye cream, while the Anti-Dust Whitening mask comes with an ampoule and a brightening eye cream. They are perfect for traveling, or if you’re like me, they are perfect for those lazy skincare days when you just want to slap on a few steps and go to bed. It’s all right there!
If it’s out-of-this-world glow and hydration you’re looking for, try the Intensive Shining Mask. They aren’t lying about the whole “intensive shining” thing, that’s for sure. Step one is the Blooming Essence, which is a thin but very hydrating essence with a pretty floral scent. Some notable ingredients are rose water, baobab seed oil, and a ton of other hydrating plant extracts.
Then you move on to the best part, the sheet mask. It’s SO comfortable and fits like a dream. The material is a super soft cupro material (my fave), and it’s saturated with essence, but it isn’t drippy (not my fave). I wore it for about 45 minutes and nearly forgot I had it on until I went to the bathroom again — that’s how comfortable it is.
The icing on the cake is the lightweight, hydrating eye cream (which … I’m going to admit, I don’t regularly use eye creams, but I have been recently because of this mask). This set is SO hydrating that all I had to do afterwards was throw on a moisturizer and that’s it. My skin legit glows when I use this mask, and it’s going to be a mainstay in my routine when my skin needs a big dose of extra hydration.
If the Intensive Shining Mask is all about hydration, the Anti Dust Whitening set is all about — you guessed it — brightening. I normally scoff at brightening sheet masks because the effects are typically very minimal and only last briefly. But WHEW THIS MASK. Like, no lie, it’s easily one of the best I’ve ever used. EVER. And I’ve been masking for like seven years now. Coco wasn’t lying!
It was made to help those living in areas with high pollution or dust, so all of the steps are supposed to help protect against the elements. I can’t attest to those properties, but it will honestly give you a brightening boost like no other, thanks to a hefty dose of my bae ingredient, niacinamide.
Again, it has that super soft microfiber cotton material — it feels legit like silk on the skin. The essence in this mask is very milky, which I LOVEEEE (I am a tiny bit obsessed with milky sheet masks … swoon). For this mask, the steps are reversed: You apply the sheet mask first, then the ampoule, then the brightening eye cream. The ONLY negative is that the eye cream is slightly tinted, so I have to work it in a little more than I normally would if I use it during the day, but if it’s at night, I don’t really care because no one is going to see me anyway.
For both masks, they each contain enough of the essence/ampoule/eye cream for at least three uses, so yes, these masks are a bit on the pricey side (about $4 each for the Intensive Shining Mask), but you can make that money stretch, honey, by using the extra steps more than once. Get your life, OK!
So if you’re in the market to really treat yourself, cop a few JayJun masks. You’ll thank me!
