Sunscreen has always been one of my non-negotiable products, as I grew up with a grandmother that had experienced extensive sun damage working as a young girl and was still suffering from its effects even in old age. I’m 26, with very fair porcelain skin and live in the Midwest, where weather is temperamental to say the least. This year we’ve been experiencing a rather sunny summer and I’m so happy I had this on hand. Its formula utilizes green tea to both calm and sooth the skin while zinc oxide acts as its main active ingredient to physically block the sun’s rays from penetrating your skin. It’s got a slightly thick cream texture that applies evenly and blends out like an absolute dream. It looks so good on! It’s sheer but provides the perfect amount of tint! The formula seems to slightly blur pores while evening out my skin tone and making the redness in my cheeks disappear. It’s not super hydrating - but this isn’t a problem as long as you moisturize adequately before. It holds up extremely well to both sweat and humidity. The packaging is perfect as well, the pump keeps the formula free from bacteria and sunlight is unable to penetrate the bottle to affect the formula. Overall, I’m super happy with it and think I’ve found my staple sunscreen. I’d highly recommend it for those looking for a tinted sunscreen that doesn’t clog pores.

As a nine year verified beauty expert, I understand the importance of daily spf use. However, to encourage that daily behaviur, its important that the spf is ideally mineral. This is my preference since I believe that the skin absorbs most of what it comes in contact with, and zinc oxide, as a physical shield is the least disruptive. I like that the Clearstem "you are sunshine" is a lightweight product, that is easily applied to the skin. It mixes till it is invisible, that is, there is no white cast and there is no detectable fragrance. There are also green tea and gotu kola extracts that work to strengthen the skin barrier. I apply it in the mornings, as I wake and re-apply every few hours, or when I remember :). I also like that it is water resistance, so there is 80 min of coverage if you are heading to the pool.

I learned that SPF 50 is the highest you need to go. This is a clear zinc-based product, which I was really excited about because I found it difficult to find in stores. It’s a tinted sunscreen that can also be used as a primer.I first used it after washing my face and applying moisturizer, and I thought it worked nicely for me just as it is. I loved the look - it’s lightweight, non-greasy, and was able to blur out my imperfections as it claims. My only mistake was getting it anywhere near my eyes. It burned quite a bit, as most SPF products do. I also went out to water my flowers in 90-degree humidity, so the sweating didn’t help the situation at all. However, even with being extremely careful, I still noticed that it was difficult to prevent the burning. I’m sure wearing sunglasses didn’t help either, but sunglasses are definitely a necessity for me, especially when outdoors.Using it as a primer, I was not a fan of how it looked sitting under makeup. I noticed lots of flaking, and it made it difficult to apply makeup. Unfortunately, it was not easy to get an even application, and it was impossible for me not to get too close to my eyes when blending my foundation.I do love that there is zero white casting with this product, and it absorbs quickly into my skin. Even though at 38, I love the youthful glow, this product didn’t seem to completely mattify my complexion either. As I said, if I could keep it away from my eyes, I love the results I get when I wear it by itself.Clearstem provides you with a huge bottle, and only a few pumps are all you need for full face coverage. The tint couldn’t have been a more perfect match for my skin tone. It’s super lightweight on my skin, and I don’t feel like I’m wearing sunscreen when I have it on.I was not impressed with how it worked as a primer, and it burns my eyes terribly. Because of this, I initially rated it 3 stars. However, because I really love the natural look it gives me, and the fact that it’s a clear zinc formulation that doesn't feel like it's suffocating my face, I feel like the more I work with it, the more determined I am to figure it out. In this case, the benefits outweigh the negatives, so I'm going to rate it 4 stars.I would recommend this product to others, but please, keep it away from your eyes!
