Sheep/Goat: peaceful, gentle, creative, quiet and reflective
I’m not a Sheep myself, but I sort of wish I were. I can relate to their quiet and gentle nature. Sheep are lovers, not fighters, and kind of give off that whole natural hippy bohemian vibe.
This is why I think Innisfree is the brand for the Sheep. Innisfree prides itself on sourcing natural ingredients from the peaceful island of Jeju, South Korea. Their products all have that dreamy pastel colorway, and the stores themselves are all designed to look like a spa in the middle of the forest, the perfect place for the Sheep to meditate on all the money they will spend on skincare.
Monkey: sociable, enthusiastic, upbeat, extroverted
The Monkey is the life of the party. You know that person that always seems to make friends wherever they go? That’s the Monkey. They’re always so cheerful, friendly, and fun!
Etude House is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the Monkey. Everything about the brand is so colorful, vibrant, upbeat and cheerful. I mean honestly, who can resist hand creams in the shape of penguins and bears and bubble tea sleeping packs?! No one.
Rooster: practical, analytical, neat, perfectionist
When I was in elementary school, I had a friend whose pencil box organization was the only goal I aspired to. She had her pens and pencils organized by color and shape, and she was always prepared for class. That’s the Rooster — an organized perfectionist.
The Rooster reminds me of Clio. They make a lot of amazing eye products, but honestly, there is nothing more perfect than their Kill Black Liner. Do you want your eyeliner to look like you definitely don’t f—k around? Like it’s so neat, precise and sharp it could stab a man? Then yes, dear Rooster, Clio is for you.
Dog: loyal, honest, faithful, observant
Dogs are the faithful, honest, and true sign of the bunch. They’ll never let you down and will be there for you in the darkest of times. They’ll also never hesitate to tell you like it is.
COSRX is definitely the Dog. It’s my favorite brand; my tried-and-true staple that I know will never let me down. I’ve tried a wide range of products, from the snail sheet masks to the AHA Liquid to the cult classic BHA Liquid. Everything is a solid, trusty, good ol’ faithful win.
Pig: tasteful, perfectionist, warm-hearted, diligent
The pig is like that friend you had in college who always wore the latest Coach bag and always had her hair flat ironed to perfection for an 8 am class. (Definitely not me, HA!) They love Instagramming their brunch mimosas and always have that perfect flat lay of their nighttime skincare routine.
Sulwhasoo is the perfect brand for the perfectionist pig. I mean, the Vitalizing Overnight Mask alone will turn your skin into glowy perfection. Plus, who doesn’t want to Instagram themselves in the new Ginseng Renewing Creamy Mask? Can we say GOALS?!
Rat: creative, friendly, charming, and extremely social
Have you ever been to a club and there’s a girl at the mirror applying her makeup and you ask her what she’s using and she goes into a 5-minute spiel about her routine? That’s a Rat. Charming and social, rats love to be the center of attention.
When I think of the Rat, I think of Korean makeup brand 3CE. 3CE is for social butterfly of your friend circle — think bold and lush lip and eye colors combined with sleek, yet cute packaging.
Ox: calm, methodical, traditional, conservative
The Ox is someone who is rational, calm, and conservative. They don’t want to mess around with all the cutesy and vibrant Korean products; they want something effective that caters to their traditional values.
The History of Whoo is pretty much the embodiment of traditional Korean cosmetics. Inspired by the perfect beauty of an empress, the brand infuses its Korean roots in each step of its products, from traditional hanbang ingredients to its use of ancient Korean calligraphy on its packaging. It’s the perfect choice for the meticulous Ox.
Tiger: brave, confident, energetic, and enthusiastic
The Tiger (hey, that’s me!) is someone who knows what they want and when they want it. They are go-getters by nature and are risk-takers in every way (*cough* selling all your things and moving to Korea to teach might ring a bell).
Makeup artist Pony and her daring makeup brand Pony Effect is the perfect match for the vibrant tiger. Eye shadow palettes come in a range of shades from daring to subtle, the makeup brushes are extra luxurious, and let’s not forget the gorgeous, super pigmented lipsticks. Every tiger needs that signature lip color!
Rabbit: sensitive, romantic, open-minded, quick-thinking
Rabbits are the delicate flowers of the bunch. But don’t be fooled, they are also super progressive and quick on their feet. I feel like Rabbits are the friends who seem quiet and reserved but really are the ones who will bail you out at a moment’s notice. A true ride or die.
Benton is like the Rabbit. You might not think that they are packing a punch because the packaging is quite plain, but they hit you with the BAM, BOOM, POW glow. Also, you gotta be pretty open minded to slather snail goo and bee venom all over your face.
Dragon: larger than life, confident, smart, risk-takers
The Dragon is kind of the star of the whole Korean zodiac. Not exaggerating — people that are Dragons are considered extremely lucky! Families actually plan births around the year of the Dragon because it’s that big of a deal. Dragons are meticulous, smart, and extremely confident. Similar to the Tiger, they have a go-getter attitude that sets them apart from the crowd.
When I think of the Dragon, I think of Too Cool for School. The brand definitely doesn’t shy away from bold design choices. From their highly popular Dinoplatz line to the colorful Rodin highlighter collaboration, everything from Too Cool for School screams “I’m the coolest in the crowd.”
Snake: passionate, deep thinkers, extremely reliable, introverted
The Snake is an impassioned introvert. They hate to fail and work ridiculously hard to make sure that they don’t. Snakes are also said to be the most intuitive out of the bunch, so you know bullsh—t doesn’t make it past them at ALL.
Swanicoco is the brand I think of when I think of the Snake. The brand’s dedication to using the best and most effective technology, mixed with meticulously researched natural ingredients means that no product in the range is a dud. I am personally ULTRA obsessed with the 10% AHA Coco Peeling Cream.
Horse: independent, loves to travel, self-reliant, natural born leader
Just like the wild horse, a person who is a Horse sign loves to be roam free. They are a leader and definitely don’t like being told what to do. Cue Destiny’s Child “Independent Women.”
I think Peripera is the brand a Horse sign should look out for. First of all, they make adorable travel-inspired packaging, perfect for the travel loving horse. And their bold lip tints are perfect for the person who wants to stand out and show the world who’s strong and independent. Two snaps!
