The hit HBO series continues to churn out the “emotional glam” and these cosmetics deliver the vibes.

As a writer, I’ve learned a lot about the ins and outs of storytelling – like how to use the five senses to build a scene and the intricate ways you can show who a character is without having to say it outright – and the fancy words we use to describe these tricks, like “pathetic fallacy”.

Last season’s glitter tears encapsulated the mood of Euphoria / Photo: Sonny Music

Pathetic fallacy is a storytelling device where the scene reflects human emotions. In the traditional sense, it might be raining in a sorrowful scene or freezing cold when a character has been left without love. Last season’s glitter tears encapsulated the mood of Euphoria for me in a way nothing else did. They embodied the life or death, everything is terrible, and anything is possible, extreme emotional highs and lows of being a teenager. We have showrunner Sam Levinson and makeup designer Doniella Davy to thank for that. They've been collab-ing since the beginning, figuring out how to use makeup as a character reveal. Graphic liner! Primary colors! Those tears, huzzah!

Season 2 pushes this concept even further by continuing to paint the unique wants and needs of each character on their faces in what Davy calls: “emotional glam.”

Here we go…

First and fur-most, let’s talk brows – they’re fluffed up and full this season. Forgoing brow gel, Davy sticks them in place on set using a five dollar drugstore fav, Göt 2B Ultra Glued Styling Gel. (You can also use this stuff to hold your wig in place – it’s not called glue for nothing.)

Kat Hernandez (portrayed by Barbie Ferreira)

Last season, Kat discovered just how hot she is in what I would imagine is every girl parent’s worst nightmare (yes, it involves the internet) and she continues to explore her in-your-face sexuality, pin up girl meets dominatrix style with a twist this year.

Think dramatic lashes with thick black cat eyes and vibrant shadow.

Davy's Pick: Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette

Laura Geller You’re a Natural! Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette: Rose & Taupe Collection

Maddy Perez (portrayed by Alexa Demie)

Maddy is the basic, bad bitch in the crew. She’s high-end, mainstream sexy, a la Kim K., but, still in high school. This means she’s pairing very black liquid eyeliner with neutrals, contour and an overdrawn lip.

And you’re never really sure just how far she’s going to keep winging that wing, or how many rhinestones she’s going to glue to her eyebrows.

Davy's Pick: Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel 77

Clio Sharp So Simple Waterproof Liner No. 1

Cassie Howard (portrayed by Sydney Sweeney)

I relate to Cassie’s desperate need to be loved and accepted SO HARD. She’s the insecure princess who’s waiting for her knight to come in and carry her away. You just know she watched a lot of Disney movies.

Her look is ultrafeminine, shimmery and soft. Just like the Make Up For Ever Diamond Powder Davy recommends. Use it anywhere for that effervescent glow.

Covergirl Outlast Extreme Wear Pressed Powder

Jules Vaughn (portrayed by Hunter Schafer)

Jules is her own canvas. She’s bold and breaking the mold in face paint and stencils, testing the traditions of makeup. She’s the reason we’re drawing geometric shapes on our lids with bright eyeliner and dousing our brow bones in shimmer.

She’s Daryl Hannah in Blade Runner and Juliette Lewis IRL, and at the same time, she is uniquely herself.

Davy's Pick: Danessa Myricks Beauty Colorfix Eye, Cheek & Lip Cream Pigment

Laura Geller Baked Blush-n -Multipurpose Blush Duo

Rue Bennett (portrayed by Zendaya)

Rue is opioid chic for Gen Z.

Rue glistens, as if she’s always slightly sweaty, swinging from one end of the addict’s pendulum to the other. Whether she’s sober or high or yearning for her next fix, there is an earnestness to her character that always shines through, thanks to a cult-classic from behind the “red door.”

“We were using this Elizabeth Arden product called Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant that Z loves to keep her face really moist,” notes Davy, and it’s an award winning product that’s been on the market for close to a century!

SQN Summer Glow Vitamin C Serum

Beautytap Beauty Expert Pick: SQN Summer Glow Vitamin C Serum

Lexi Howard (portrayed by Maude Apatow

Lexi is the level-headed, no-nonsense friend we all need. The one who barely has time to swipe on some lipstick because she has better things to worry about, like watching everyone’s drink and her SAT scores.

Davy's pick: MAC Ruby Woo

PERIPERA Ink Airy Velvet Stick 8 Warmy Red

Okay, gotta go. I told myself I could watch one episode, but only after I finished writing this article. Are you euphoric about Euphoria, too? Show me!
